Southwest type cue

Design aside ... wouldn't a shaft with the same profile as a SW attached to a similar butt (Sugartree?) play the same?
Could anyone really tell the difference in a blind test?

I think most people that buy Southwest cues buy them for reasons other than the way they feel and play.

Which cue maker will make a shaft to Southwest’s EXACT dimensions?

I would like to test one.

Probably no one. I spent time at the SW shop when Jerry was alive and had not seen a cue built with the same care. They were not just thrown together.

Every cue had tags on them throughout the build prosses. Everything was marked to achieve a predetermined predictable outcome for each cue I'm assuming to the customers preferences.

I have been in quite a few cuemaker shops. Never saw anything like they do at SW. Now, Jerry has been gone for a Long time, I can't say how the shop runs today.

Another thing, with everyone throwing after market CF shafts on cues today, does it really matter who built the butt anymore? I play with a cue I love that I built myself. Have to be honest, I'm probably going to get a CF shaft out of curiosity. I'm open minded.
I think you won't be disappointed. I have been really impressed overall with my 12.4 revo. The amount of english and draw you can do on the cue ball is legit. I have had to dial my stroke down. It cleans so easy and I don't have to worry about warpage. I don't get that tink sound that some complain about either but I have a radial joint not sure if that makes a difference and it fits really tight on my predator sneaky. Definitely not coming loose inadvertently.

I would think any cue maker that has a CNC machine and access to a SouthWest shaft to measure could fix you up.
To my knowledge a shaft profile is not something that can hold a patent.

Its a given that that SouthWest Cues makes a top quality product.
They have the resources, skills, equipment, and experience to do so.
The fact that their design and style is often "borrowed" by other cue makers says a lot.
It is one of the very few custom cues that I would very much like to own.

Buddy of mine is a pool collector and is now thinking about selling off his pool collection. He has a Bluegrass, Joss West and Southwest that he is interested in selling. I saw them yesterday and they are in immaculate condition. I think they all come with two shafts. I told him to post them on this website to see if there is any interest.

Well there is not much in Cue making that not copies, imitated, or reproduced.

Southwest use to offer inlays, now most are 6 Polnts, or Merry Widows.

Southwest off couple of shaft taper, so do other builders.

Southwest ID’s their pins, with Cactus & Number.

Well, we can argue they borrowed from Craig Petersen too.
He had the first bottom window.

Believe you are seeing your own image in mirror.

Get over you feeling of self importance, you score a zero.
