Spalted Maple

I had a couple of pieces of spalted maple given to me. I'd like to use these pieces to make some points. As far as I can tell the wood hasn't been treated with anything. Is there a product that I can buy that will stabilize the wood and harden it up a little? Thanks

As spault is actually decay in the structure of the wood, I know that I wouldn't be comfortable using a surface applied wood hardener. I have some pieces myself that I will be sending off for impregnation of acrylic resin via vaccuum chamber. If you need contact info for someone who does this, PM me, or do a search using some of those key words.

MINWAX WOOD HARDNER. Home Depot or Lowes. Will work OK on spalted
maple for points. Follow-up with thin CA after you install and turn the points down.
