Specialized Chalks - Pricing/Performance/Pre-shot routine/etc.

My top 3 in order are Kamui Roku, V10 and probably the HOW oily chalk.

The ones I really didn't care for, Kamui Kageki - way to messy and the Cyborg On chalk, rock hard.
 
Who likes the rails covered with nasty chalk dust debris? Masters and equivalents leave way too much on all surfaces. Prove it. Grab a cue to chalk under an extremely bright light.
Watch the dust particulate shower down off the cue as you chaulk. Proves the cleanliness of v10 and Pag types vs legacy Masters types.

Taom doesn't. The older Kamui 'lipstick' chalk' is notorious for this. I found a piece of Taom green and i'm amazed at how everything stays cleaner: balls, hands, cloth, case, you name it. It gives Master the ORANGE five and the snap.
 
Blue Diamond, $7 for two cubes. Filed the first one flat to about 1/4", now using the second. Friend bought Tiger, 3 cubes for $18. I tried his but it's too soft and messy compared to the Blue Diamond. Another guy I play uses TAOM and loves it.
 
For decades was a triangle chalk user. Tbh wasn't unhappy with it, but tried Taom (green) to see what all the fuss was about and would never go back. Other chalks feel so messy in comparison and it just goes on so nicely. Don't know how long they last as my original one is still going strong after 18 months or so (play once or twice a week).

  2. I'm under the impression all the new chalks are about equal, but prefer the size/shape of the Pure (octagonal and bigger around).

  4. I don't lose chalk so it lasts at least 3-4 months. I don't use it all either, as soon as i start dropping it because it's getting thin i replace it.
  5. Nope. But i don't carry a 12-pack of chalk with me anymore. Just the piece i'm using and a backup.
Performance isn't much different between new chalks and Master, but the cleanliness and longevity are the deciders for me.
