Spectator pressure

How would your gambing game go under those circumstances?

If you were to match up against another player that you generaly repect whose ability and capabilities closely mirror yours if the two of you were alone in a room playing against each other, what would be the effect of playing in front of a small group (3+) of spectators that were obviously friends of his pulling for him and doing a little lowkey woofing at you during the match? In addition, it is an impromptou match and none of your buddies are around to root for you.

Matchup

Your matchup with your opponent is a 'Private affair' with an agreement between you two, not spectators. If they don't conduct themselves properly, and keep the noise down, I would stop, and tell them that they have to leave, or I wouldn't continue.

If playing for big money, they would have to sit at least a table away, not talk loud, and any signs of sharking by them, I would get the manager to remove them from the area.

For small stakes I'd woof back and have some fun.

For bigger stakes I'd probably let it distract me and lose.

For a really big steak, I'd let Smorg play for me and we'd split it (with some fava beans and a nice bottle of Chianti).

a little lowkey woofing

Well your words are little and lowkey...sounds harmless unless you let it get the better of you.If you sense true ill intent, fix it with some conversation with the guy you are playing and let him handle his crew.If he is serious about the impromtu match,he'll fix it for you.If not you've got a legit out if you feel its effecting your game imo.

none of your buddies are around to root for you
How would this help?Somebody to shark him back?? really just wondering.

So I guess I vote option 5...fix it if its f'n with me and say thanks but no thanks if my opponant can't or won't fix it.;)

Those douchebags are not holding your cue when you stroke - so who cares. You cannot let every little thing going on bother you. At the end of the day, focus, use them to motivate you and crush the opponent. Let your wallet talk.

I have been in this situation. Playing ahead sets for $2000+
I made the guy I was playing understand, either they leave or the match is off, he finally made them leave.

No reason to put up with behavior like this with money on the line...

I'd try to get some side bets off his buddies by "woofing" back at them. You know what they say, money talks-BS walks. Nothing like a stiff bet to shut the mouths of the weak hearted, and it might rattle your opponent as well.
