Spectator question

I'll be leaving for DCC tomorrow morning and had a quesiton I was hoping could be answered. If someone was to go and just wanted to watch the action and doesn't care about being in the stands for the tournament, do they still have to buy a spectator pass? If they do need to buy one, how much are they?

One more question. What kind of "small" action is there at the DCC? Cheap ring games? Cheap minis? What about just some cheap friendly gambling?

All the action is either upstairs or in the bar at the front. For thise area you don't have to pay to watch.I highly recommend paying to watch the tourney. You will see some good matches. Plus paying to watch allows Greg to keep having the tourney. They have nightly minis on the big tables, I think they are 25.00 to get in.They may be sold out at this time however. They may also be some minis on the barboxs across the street. As far as cheap action, it really depends on what you call cheap. Hope this helps.

By cheap action I'm just talking about $20-$100 a set, $5-$10 a man ring games, $10-$20 a rack 1hole kind of stuff. I'm not a great player by any means, but I like to play and I like to gamble, but I like to gamble within my means. Really I'm just going down to watch, but I figured that if there is anything in my "range" then I'd jump in.

Gotcha. You may be able to find some one on one set action.I think it would be hard to find a ring game or one hole that cheap.

not much cheap but it is there

I was able to find some cheap action last year when I was there. I would be up for a few cheap sets one night. I get in late tomorrow and will be there till saturday.

That's what I figured, but it's no big deal. Like I said, I'm going to watch and keep a buddy company for the most part. If I was higher then a "high B, low A" player I'd think about betting more, but sadly that's not the case. LOL. Thanks for the info.

If you are a "high B, low A" then you got me beat.

The whole day pass cost $15 for general admission. I was there over the past weekend. The main room had someone checking. Around midnight or so the room was wide open. During the day no one was checking in the room upstairs or the other rooms. The tables in the bar are always open. After midnight all many top players are hanging around and playing something.

Things may change during the week. The TV table had reserved VIP signs on them. They weren't being inforced but you could lose the seat if it belonged to somone. I understand that as the tournament progresses unless you have a VIP seat you will not see any games on the TV table.

It is worth paying just to help with the expenses so the tournament keeps running. It was a great weekend and seems to be a fantastic tournament.

They have mini tournaments and I am sure you can get some small game going with someone.

I get to DCC tomorrow evening and have no problem with some cheap sets (9 ball, 8ball or 1p) or ring games. I will be with another guy that will do the same. We will probably hit the Az room around 8 or 9.
