speed of pool shots?

Ask Dr. Dave. The answer is 42 regardless of the question.

You'd have to read the book :-) I don't know if that part was in the movie. They got the answer, but turns out that the issue may have been that they did not know what the correct question they had to ask was, so they had to build another computer to come up with the right question to ask.

Ok. Gotta go find a copy. Ask again in18 months. :D

But that side spin energy is almost useless to breaking since it will not be transferred to the object ball much at all. In fact that is pretty wasted energy since the force you use for the side spin is not going into the forward momentum which would be transferred to the object balls.
Useless for breaking: probably,
Useless for position: absolutely not. !

I’ve been to pool schools where they determine your normal stroke speed by having you shoot through the spots. The CB travels to foot rail back to head rail then back towards middle of table. They use imaginary lines drawn across the table from diamond to diamond on the long rails. Your number is determined by how many diamonds the CB travels after contacting the second rail. Don’t understand why that is so important as you rarely get to use your ‘normal’ speed.
Then he setup an easy 9 ball layout, gave me ball in hand, and said run them.I ran the table and only got out of line on one shot by about 3 inches, but still recovered. He then said I shoot a little hard ??? I shot the speed needed to get to next line, why would I shoot with less speed!

might sound weird but I like ebay for books..usually cheap, and some funky stuff there
that said, most local bookshops would likely possess "hitchhiker's," included used joints
You mean like Big Daddy's Roaches?
Kidding. I've been perusing sticks and pool gear on rebay but I'm still iffy on it. Not enamored of the auctions and new stuff is similar to Amazon. Waiting for something to jump out at me is like panning for gold as well. lol...
