Spoke With Kevin Varney

I just spoke with Kevin for a few seconds, don't think he would have answered if it wasn't me. He is in the hospital, AGAIN. He couldn't talk for more than just seconds, he was hooked up to some machine. He said he nearly died, again.
He said he would call me when he gets out of the hospital. I know he would appreciate your thoughts and prayers, if you are so inclined.
Wish I had better news but at least he's alive. I'd been afraid otherwise:(

I sure hope he gets better, sounds bad he has been sick a very long time.

I wonder if whats wrong with his lungs is/was a result of cue making, I was talking to a cue builder a couple weeks ago about this topic, he has a good vacuum set up on all his machines. But if you think about it look at how many cue makers get sick and die at young ages. Breathing in cocobolo and rosewood dust and other woods is toxic stuff, then ad in glues and finishes wow!!. I bet there have been 6 or 7 big time cue makers pass away who were under 60 in the past couple decades, compare that number to players who have passed away under 60; the players are out living the cue makers. I dont think thats just a coincidence. The cue maker I was talking to about this pointed this out to me, I had passing thoughts about it, he confirmed it.

The problem first occurred due to his contracting a rare form of pneumonia brought on by an allergy to the clear coat he was using in 2010 and before. So, yes, partly, at least. He has so much scar tissue on his lungs and his immune system is pretty shot, it's very hard to make any progress in recovery.
