Woah,
This went from what was supposed to be a positive thread to having a "negative" twist to it...
JB CASES: I often times consider myself pretty darn good at expressing my thoughts and beliefs clearly...you are able to take that to a whole other level...I always enjoy reading your posts and replies...I think you could make the simplest phrase sound like poetry!!!
THE CHINCHILLA: At first I was taken aback by what you had written...then I read it again. I think I know what you were saying... Some people shouldn't "give an inch" to win...
It's like Tiger Woods (here I go again with "golf" analogies!). Tiger wouldn't give an inch...he was the best in the world...he was known for his "killer" instinct...that helped him become one of the greatest ever at playing golf. That didn't, however, make him the "best". He knew no other way than to go for the jugular when he smelled blood...
Now, take Arnold Palmer...at his "prime", he was the best in the world at playing golf...he was also one of the "best" in life...he had morals, ethics and knew how to treat people well (family, friends and strangers).
Two different people...two different styles...both were able to achieve the status of "best" in what they did... If I wanted to become the best in the world at something, of these two individuals, I would want to achieve it as Palmer did...or not at all...
Jason
p.s. Mattie did need the money pretty bad...but he didn't need it bad enough to give up his morals...YEAH MATTIE!
