I'm assuming you're staying on the Missouri side. There's a couple on the IL side.

Well, since you already have him traveling 2,000 miles from California, the IL places aren't much farther. :-)

I hung out there a couple of times in the 70's, cool place, another California college town.
The pool scene probably blows, but if I were 35-years younger I would be heading there now.

Thanks for the info guys! Yeah, Illinois would be a hump...I'm going to train some Marines next week, looking for a little down time...where there's military there's pool...somewhere. The tip on Pismo Beach is a good place to start.

I have been there several times in the last 10 years. Its a interesting place a was a surprise for me the first time I stumbled on it. Most of the tables were buckets but they did have a couple of Gold Crowns in a pit for money matches.

This is a beautiful part of coastal central California but it offers little in the way quality pool spots. There's a room in Pismo that's a converted theatre. Not far from there is a bar, called Harry's (IIRC), that used to have plenty of pool action. But don't count on it being there anymore.

Going south to Santa Maria, they have a decent room at the Billiard Lounge (IIRC).

It's best to do other things to pass the time while in town because pool is nearly extinct there.

Army officer training marines??? What has the world come to?

I know, scary, huh? They need someone who's been a Defense Attache (I've been one for six years) to show them how to coordinate evacuation of AMCITs in a foreign country. Should be fun...

LOL. thank you for your continued service to our country. Wish I were closer to there, I'd come out and let you beat me a few games.

Last time I was there it was 67 and foggy till noon, and that was in July. In fact that is the way it is nearly every time I head out there. Cool area for sure and I cant wait for my next visit.

Depending on where your starting point is, you have the nothing much in San Luis. In Santa Maria the Billiard Lounge is a nice room but not too much action and they have weekly tournaments. If you are coming up from the LA area you can stop at my room in Ventura and play (Stiix Billiards) and in Santa Barbara you have Don Que's and some pretty decent players there. Once in San Luis they would call Arturo Rivera to play if you wanted a match. There is a private room in Oceano by Pismo Beach where some players have installed two gold crowns in an industrial area perfectly set up by Ernesto Dominguez. They like traveling players to stop in and you can find out where it's located by going into Santa Maria the Billiard Lounge and asking about it.
