stacked wrap

Is about 1 inch to 1" 1/8...................

Sorry -- I didn't mean the thickness of the handle, I meant the thickness of the leather itself. I know you could make it thin or thick depending on how large you cut the underlying wooden handle, but I was just wondering what thickness you ended up with on the cue(s) you have made with this type of wrap.

When I do the wrap, I begin to put the rings they measure 1.1/2" OD.3/4" inside, my dowel to stack the rings is 3/4" in diameter, you can taper to what ever you want.

OK, so if I understand correctly, with a 3/4" handle dowel and about a 1" overall diameter, your leather ended up being 1/8" thick, or slightly greater as the butt diameter increases near the bottom. That's much thicker than a normal leather wrap -- maybe five times as thick. What differences in feel did that produce? Was it a noticeable difference or not?

No, the dowel is 3/4" diameter the rings are 1.1/2 OD. diameter, you taper it to what ever taper you want, the feel is no different if it was wrap less is no difference...................

When you cut the butt taper do you cut the leather too, so it tapers with the rest of the butt?

thanks

Kim

Correct me if I am wrong but leather of this type is so hard it would cut/machine similar to wood. I would think that the feel of the hit ends up being quite solid with negligible if any difference because the material is so similar to wood in its density.

Yes?

No?

Yes my friend you are correct, it machine /cut like wood.................

OK.... so that leads me to the next question.....

When you put finish on the cue, isn't the finish higher than the ends of the leather wrap??

Kim

You finish the cue first, tape the finish and then sand an burnish the leather is how I did it..........................................
