steady rest needed

i need a steady rest for my small lathe to hold shaft for tips and ferrules. collett system would be great

These people sell steady rests for the mini-lathes but I really don't see why you would need one for tips. If you are talking about a rest or bearing of some kuind to hold the back of the shaft while the front is in the chuck just use your imagination and make something up. There is probably a million different ways of doing it.

Are you talking in front of or behind the chuck? Behind just use a v block with a piece of simonis or old table cloth for a pad. In front the sell em for most lathes.
