Stephen Hendry hits a 147 at the Crucible

147

AWESOME, I saw Ronnie O doit last year. Haven't seen any links for viewing this year, what is up ???

that's some nice quality video too!

that's amazing shooting.... for those that have played on 6x12 snooker tables, you really have to appreciate what their doing at that level.

It was his 9th career 147 and also the 9th at The Crucible.

He is in some really great form and looks like a good pick at the pre-tournament odds of 66-1!

Hasn't won a tournament in a number of years though so has he still got the game?

CueSportTV:

You mean his second 147 at The Crucible, correct? (First one was in 1995 against Jimmy White.) Otherwise that would mean Stephen scored all his professional career 147s at only The Crucible. ;)

I think its just a little misunderstanding in the english. But, I think he stated it correctly. It was Hendry's 9th career 147 and the 9th time a 147 break has happened in The Crucible.

English -- a very interesting language!

Ahhh... yes. The way you slightly-reworded/-rephrased it, now makes it clear -- it was the 9th 147 in The Crucible's recorded history. The coincidence of it also being Stephen Hendry's personal 9th, combined with the way it was originally phrased, led to one idea carrying-over into the second.

English -- a very interesting language at times! :D

Thanks for clarifying that,

I'm so glad Hendry has a chance to win another title, now that Ronnie is out I'm pulling for Hendry.

Awesome.

It's always impressive to see a run like that, thanks for sharing the links.

I also really enjoy the production and camera work for these snooker events, very professional. I wish that pool was shown in a similar way.

nothing amazes me anymore in regard to hendry, arguably the greatest cueist in the world in the last century. He and steve davis alone had changed the game forever when they were on top of their games.

And the tables at the World Champs are much tighter than the usual 6x12 club tables anywhere. If a ball is near the rail, it's almost impossible to make with hard stroke.

That's not applicable this year though. In fact it is a huge current talking point how forgiving the pockets are in this year's event.

Re earlier posts Hendry is of course rightly referred to as legendary and did make a great 147 in anyone's language. However at the end of the day that's just one frame and while continuing in the same match last night he was not actually cueing very well and is in many ways very lucky to be now only losing by 9-7 in a race to 13.

Personally hope a good night's sleep gets Hendry back on track and that he gets his act together and wins through to the next round but I fear Murphy is not going to be easy to overhaul from 9-7 up.

the last session last night from hendry was very dissapointing. I hadn't folowed the matches before (apart from robertson's match who played like a god), and after hearing of the 147 i wanted to see the old hendry again, with his A game, but i was sad. hendry missed alot of easy shots, i never thought he would miss them even if he tried too. Murphy had slightly lower long pot succes, BUT the long pots he made where worth double stats at least. Some MONSTER pots.

I think murphy will win the match, and he might upset alot of players, I do hope that hendry gets his game back together today and they make it a nice thriller match. I dont care who wins, as long as i can watch 2 gods play im happy

Hendry is out.

13-11 to Shaun Murphy.

Hendry started playing better but unfortunately Murphy carried on his form from yesterday. Hendry missed a sitter of a red in the last frame to allow Shaun in to make an excellent century for the win.

It's too bad, I'd love to see Stephen Hendry win one more. A season with him as champion, everything would seem....right again.

thanks for the update Cameron.

I thought Murphy would carry on and win. Ah well :) up to the next match.
