I perused the tournament brackets, and this is a first-class field with many stars! Buddy Hall came in second last year, if I recall correctly.
I noticed Jimmy Reid is in attendance, and I gotta root for him: GO. GO, JIMMY. GO!
All right. Got it out of my system (LOL). Whoever comes out on top, they are all winners in my book. The tournament organizers are to be congratulated. Great show!

Down to the last eight, if I'm reading correctly on the AzBilliards Headline News:
Howard Vickery, Buddy Hall, Bill Ferguson, and Ray Martin in the winners' bracket;
Jose Parica, Nick Varner, Bobby Hunter, and JIMMY REID in the losers' bracket.
Great tournament. I really do enjoy being able to see the brackets on the AzBilliards Home Page for us inquiring minds who gotta know (LOL).
Can't wait to see who wins this $50,000-guaranteed total purse event. They're all winners IMO, but I'm still pulling for Jimmy. Go. Go, Jimmy. Go!

I remember playing Jimmy Reid about 12 years ago in Germany. I just don't remember him having so much gray hair, as a matter of fact I don't remember ME having so much gray hair either

Jim, whenever we run into Jimmy Reid on the tournament trail, I not only enjoy watching him compete, but being around him, he's just a positive-thinking, fun, upbeat kind of guy.
Just looked at the brackets, and it looks like it's down to three players: Buddy Hall and Howard Vickery in the winners' bracket and Ray Martin in the losers' bracket.
Will Buddy Hall take it off this year? Last year, he remained on the A side of the charts, and Mike Sigel came from the losers' bracket and beat him in an extended race for the finals. Would be great seeing Buddy in the winner's circle this year!
I saw Ray Martin play at the last Carolinas Open in Goldsboro, and he's an extremely strong player when in the heat of the battle. He's definitely capable of making it to the finish line victoriously.
I always get a kick out of seeing Howard Vickery. He still looks the same as he did when he appeared in "The Color of Money" in 1986, and he seems to rise to the top in any event he plays in.
Whoever wins out of the three remaining players, they are all to be commended to place so high in such a very, very strong field (IMO).

Ray Martin is always a threat, as is Buddy Hall. I've never had the opportunity to play Buddy Hall, but I've seen him enough to know I don't want any part of him

Hi, Jim. How about that Howard Vickery! Nice score, 10 very large. The payouts looked great, paying 32 spots in the field. Congratulations to one of pool's veterans who still packs a mean punch.
Keith and I are planning on attending the DCC, barring any unforeseen circumstances. Hope to see you there. As you know, there will never be a dull moment. Make sure you get some sleep before you go. You'll need it to keep up with the non-stop pace of the Derby City Classic. Action everywhere, mini-tournaments upstairs, vendors galore, and in the tournament room, there will be an abundance of tournament matches by many players from all over the world. Always a good time at the DCC!

What a tournament. Paid out to 56 percent of the field. Win two matches and make money. Wonder who put up the extra $32,000 not derived from entry fee of $300 or $325. They deserve a plug. Does Steve put it up?
The turnout was about 19 less than last year. Too bad and so sad. I was suppose to go but cancelled. So sorry now as someone really needs support if they are going to pay out that kind of money.

I believe that the Seminole Tribe puts up part of it. Not sure how much though.
