I finally got a chance to see a few matches of Steve Mizerak when he was in his prime, and one from the 90's when he made a short-term comeback and played well for a period of time. All I can say is, this guy was incredible. Not only did he have an incredibly powerful stroke with incredible cueball control, his attitude and demeanor was a pleasure to watch. He would smile and make jokes, even if things werent going his way. He is by no means a sore loser, and a gracious winner. It is so sad that he suffered a stroke. From what I saw, he is a great man, and a gem to our sport.

yea, being a lefty myself, he was a big inspiration on my straight pool game....for a big man.....he floated around the table with that buttery smooth stroke.....

When I first started to play I was lucky enough to play him during an apearence here in Columbus, OH back in 1990 or 1991. Let me rephase that, I broke and he beat me like a red-headed stepchild. I did get one of his videos for playing him that I had him sign.

He was a big man then but the last picture I saw of him he was even bigger than I had remembered.

The Miz

Most powerful stroke EVER!

Second greatest Straight Pool player to Mosconi. Steve was kind of his protege. His dad and Willie were good friends.

He was the favorite in most tournaments during the 70's until Sigel came along, and then Earl sent him into early retirement in the 80's.

One of my favorites. Heard from Diliberto that he wasnt afraid to bet it up too. He had some great money matches with Diliberto. Some say he was better than Mosconi and has the record to prove it.

Mr. Mizerak

One of the 3 best strokes I've ever seen originating from American soil.....the other two being Buddy and Earl......Mr. Mizerak not only possessed great pool talent, but he was a class act whenever he competed, every time I saw him...a real professional and a good example of what Pool needs to promote itself...I am saddened about his physical problems which probably ended his career....He is definitely one of the greats in pool history....

The Steve Mizerak of the 1970-85 had the best stroke I've ever seen (yes, even better than Jack Colavita's) . He had an incomparable package of power and finesse.
