Sticky threads...

What if a separate forum was created for all the sticky threads... those threads get moved there... then we have one sticky that links to them. Then that sticky title can be updated as needed with a date saying something like "Updated 7-1-25" whenever something new gets added.

Then a regular thread can also be created to the new contents of what is going into the sticky.

I mean, there are so many Sticky Threads, I feel they are counter-acting their original purpose and new ones are getting lost in the sauce of the old ones... not to mention, it takes up half the first page.

Excuse the ignorance of this old man and for asking a dumb question… what makes a thread sticky?

It's an option that a moderator can set on a thread. Sticky threads appear at the top of the thread list on the forum listing.

As for why threads are made sticky, it's for administration threads, like the rules for posting, and for special threads that should be kept in view for various reasons.

Maybe the multiple forum posting rules threads could be consolidated. The purposes of several of the special threads have expired.

Yeah. I agree with this as well. I feel anything more then like 5 or 6 stickies just defeats the purpose of stickies. Have an announcement forum where people can comment on threads but not create them... then have a sticky in all the forums that just gets updated when a new announcement is made and links to it.

Just my opinion

H<-----overall, I'm just happy to be here.

That is a great idea. Leave one or two up there for the forum rules for sure, and consolidation of the others would be really great. On a PC computer, I can scroll down easily and see the first new thread on the Main Forum, but if I using my iPhone to read the Main Forum, a lot of that scrolling just seems a wee bit extensive to get to that first new thread.

Bump... can we unsticky some threads that have had no engagement in years?

15 threads are stickied and only 4 have posts in 2026.

I mean, obviously it's a tragedy that Mike Surber was murdered but we really don't need that thread pinned to the top of the forum forever. The "New forum rules regarding posting of links" are no longer new or informative. And so on for most of the stickied threads.

Falling on deaf ears. We've been complaining about the sheer number and outdated topics of the sticky threads for a good 20 years.

Seems like one thread for admin rules and posting techniques would be sufficient.

"READ ME FIRST -- new user info -- rules and tips"

There seems to be at least two "help needed" threads that no longer apply.
