Can anyone recommend some cuemakers who make or who are known for making cues with a stiff hit. Thanks.

I think in a production cue Schon is fairly stiff.

Zylr, BCM, some say southwest, and I have heard good things about Bob Dzuricky.

"stiff" means different things to different people..................

I second the Josey. I really like the hit of a Josey. If you want to go production cue, I have a Viking with a 13.5 mm shaft which is also pretty damn stiff. Course, I would imagine any cue with a 13.5 mm shaft is going to be stiffer than the average 13 or less mm diameter shaft.

Less Blevins, Mark Bear, Schuler, Sugar Tree Custom cues (Alaska), Bender(Alaska), Joss to name a few...

Scot Sherbine of Proficient Billiards makes a very stiff hitting sneaky pete. I got the chance to hit with one this past weekend and I'd can say confidently that the hit was almost comparable to a Southwest.

I also agree that Bender makes a nice stiff hitting cue. I like the hit of mine a lot.

When I say stiff, I mean something very solid not something whippy like a meucci. I guess stiff and solid really

If you want a cue with a still hit and don ot want to spend a small fortune for one. I wqould recomend a Peachaur Pro Hustler.

I purchased one for my wife over 8 years ago and it is without a doubt the hardest hitting stick I have ever played with. It has a very predictable amount of deflection no matter which way you hold it and is stiff enough to do full cue jump with.

I still play with it occasionally.

Darren Hill's cues hit real nice. He is from the Chicago area. I had the opportunity to shoot around with one once and was very impressed.

This is my Sugar Tree... Its one of the hardest hitting cues I've ever played with. Let me rephrase that it is the hardest hitting cue Ive played with. The cue hits a ton. There is alot that makes a stiff hitting cue. Any given cuemaker can make a cue thats stiff or soft hitting. Materials, taper and over all construction is ultimately the deciding factor in a stiff or soft hitting cue. Most likely no one has heard of Sugar Tree but you will eventually... Ive played with a ton of cues and this one is my favorite... Everyone has to start somewhere. I had the cue for nearly a month and never knew the guys name :D He makes good hitting cues to make good hitting cues, not for the popularity. I think this is a sure sign of a cuemaker that is dedicated to delivering a quality product.

Here is the Pechaure Pro Hustler...

I have this exact cue, but my camera takes horrid pics, so I borrowed this better pic of off a website.

I dare you to find a better hitting cue for the $300.00 this retails for. The wood to wood joints provides an incredible hit.....

For production and limited customs, Joss and Schon, with the 13.25mm Joss getting the telephone pole nod. For expensive custom, SouthWest. For affordable custom, Dale Perry.

Finding a stiff shaft is easy. Finding one that is reasonably tapered and alive is what's hard. I think Schon has found the best of both worlds. I particularly like the old Schons.

Also, try a Predator - you might be surprised.
