I took a cue in on trade tonight and the shaft stinks . It smells kinda like mildew or something . The case he had it in had no smell at all nor did any of the cues in it. This is very odd to me as i have never heard of it before. Any idea's on what can be done to this shaft or is it just junk ?

Thanks ....... Larry

Sometimes when shaft wood gets a little damp or very cold and sits in a case it can have a mildew smell. It is from being in the stinky bars from the cigarette smoke, and settling on the shaft. I would say clean the shaft well and leave it out in a warm dry place for a few weeks. Should go away some, if you clean it up good. Sealing the shaft will help also. Just my .02 cents worth.

I used to play in a room that made my cue, case, clothes, skin all stink. They had a cloud in that place at prime time.

I have a cue with 2 old growth maple shafts that stink like spit. Check your shaft, it might be old growth and not junk at all.

Stinky shaft

...sounds like a personal hygiene issue. Have you talked to a doctor? :D
