Stolen cues :(

Scott,
My car was broken into and they stole my cues, phone, cds, radio, my book bag that had all my college books in it and some clothes. That was the most violated I have ever felt in my life. I truly feel for ya bud. Good luck with everything.

First off...Scott, I am very sorry to hear of your loss...has to suck in a major big way! Hopefully, you will be able to recoup some monies to help replace your equipment. Good news is....there are some amazingly killer deals on the secondary market currently...great time to be a buyer. :)

Okay....do you all live in your cars, or what?!!! I leave absolutely nothing in my car that I am not willing to lose. My cue and case go with me everywhere I go, when I am playing. I will not hesitate to take them into a restaurant, or any other business, for that matter. I NEVER leave them in the car! Theft is not even the main reason...the fluctuations in temperatures and humidity, even for a few minutes, can reek havoc on a cue...anything from warpage to clouding the finish.

Thanks to the power of the iPhone, I can post here about my truck getting broken into and my cues/case being stolen, before the cops even get here!

:(

More details and a photo or two once I get home.

Sorry to hear that Scott. You're not still around Denver are you? If you were I'd try to keep an eye out for you.

I've left my cues in the car in 120 degree heat, and -20 degree cold, for 30+ years...nothing has EVER happened to any of them. Guess I've been lucky!...or I just have GOOD WOOD! LOL

I've never had any damage to a cue by leaving it in my car.

But I have had a case warp pretty badly on a hot day.

Hope your cues find their way back home.

Nope, moved back to Atlanta early October.

Yeah, I know - I shouldn't have left them in the car. And won't, again. But like (other) Scott says, I've done this for years and never had an issue until last night.

Meh!

Lisa,
I was 19, a college student and working two jobs (one at the pool hall which always turns into 12 hour days and one in a factory), so yes, I pretty much did live out of my car. I was never home. I've learned as i've gotten older, trust me.

Oh, I expect I won't get'em back. But who knows.

Here's a photo of my playing cue (Schon LTD-1033). Shafts include the stock one (without the little logo near the joint), a Predator 314, and an OB-1 shaft.

The Schon has a leather wrap, and a couple of small chunks taken out of the finish, where the wrap ends, one on either end of the wrap.

Also in the case was a Jerico Stinger B/J cue, and a Showcase "Buster" break cue. Plus the various knick-knacks a pool player carries around in his case (which is a black/blue leather Sterling).

Stolen from behind a restaurant on Howell Mill Rd., just east of I-75, in the Atlanta metro area.

There's a couple of pawn shops in the area I'm going to hit over the weekend, just in case...

Sorry - had that happen to me when I was tramping (looking for work as electrician). Stolen in ND, many years ago. Check the pawn shops for a couple months- not just once. Also your homeowners insurance may cover part of the loss.

Fell your pain

I too have had cues stolen from my car. I try not to leave them in it anymore. as far as what Lisa was talking about the change in temp and stuff I think it really come down to moister. when I live san diego it didnt hurt the cue at all. but I live in nw washington now and it can really mess up the cue.

Wouldn't you just love to come out to your car and find one of these A-holes with his ass sticking out your car door?

The same thing happened to my son about 6 weeks ago. But we had a happy ending thanks to the folks on AZ. They recommended putting flyers in all the poolrooms and pawn shops, no questions asked and reward. LO and behold, a call came in, a reward was paid and the cues were returned. We didn't have insurance to cover our losses so it was worth our trouble to drop off flyers. Anyway Scott you could give it a try if you're really attached to your cue...

That's like the 2 blindfolded guys standing against the wall waiting to be shot, and one asks the other, 'Is this your first time?' .....:D
