Storing Cues in a case?

I have half dozen or more cues that I rarely use anymore. I also have that many extra cases. Would storing them in cases be alright for six months to a yea? Thank you. Johnnyt

Stored in a case, in an air conditioned house is the best possible place for your Cue.

Johnny, I used to have 33 cues at one time I had them in hard cue cases stored for years in me gun safe cause it's fire proof. I would get tem out every so often to play with and admire and I never had a problem. They are standing straight up and in the cases and in the house hold temperature all the time. I would just make sure they arent in to cold or to hot of a temperatures. I never had a problem>>>ED

What is considered too cold? What would you recommend as a general range that is acceptable? I have heard that 64°F-81°F is the acceptable range with a humidity of 30%-50%.

I keep mine in individual cases, standing upright. The room temperature is kept around 67-70 degrees. Ultra important is keeping the humidity pretty constant. I keep mine at 48-52% all year round. Never had a problem

Desiccant packs do not control the humidity. What they do is soak up as much moisture as they can until they are full and then they cease to work until they are dried out again. In a non-airtight cue case desiccant packs are virtually useless.

They would have some limited use in an airtight case as they would soak up some of the ambient moisture inside the case.

In my business we deal with packaging and this is one of the issues we deal with all the time.

I store plenty of cues in cases like Instroke and GTF which have padded interiors to prevent movement. I keep them away from outside walls and vents. I believe that as long as cues are kept at a moderate temperature and are not subject to pressure exerted on them then they are not likely to warp or move. I have had very few of my cues warp just by storing them in the cases.

I hang my cues in a controlled environment @ 44 to 46 % humidity.
