Straight pool DCC

Johnny finished at 179....he can still play

That should be the high run so far. I think Biado had 140 or around there.

And congrats on the recent 14 K post milestone, PT. Not even Johnny Archer can brag about that accomplishment.

How did his run come to an end?

He got tired and quit.

An inside joke by S.P...

Gideon, I'll find out today...gotta admit it...I'm not a dirty old man...but I was distracted
For a few minutes....the best looking woman at DCC sat down beside me.

Poor Orcullo......had the high run of the day (154) with less than an hour to go...
...must've felt like he had a lock.
Nooooobody's safe when Archer is in the building.

Johnny got somewhat out of line. Had four balls nearly lined up. Only the last ball nearest the top rail was playable. He attempted to cut it across the rail and missed. Not even close.

What you missed was him breaking at 140. Poorly executed. Only shot a severe cut to the top right pocket. Made the ball but cut the cue ball loose. Wound up frozen to a ball near the bottom right pocket. He jacked up and "pushed" the ball into the bottom left pocket. Have to admit even I was clapping at home! Pretty much a textbook run by a modern era player. Poor patterns saved by superior shot making. Irving was rolling in his grave!

I got the inside joke. Good ol Willie.

Keep track of that woman - point her out to me tonight when I get there!

It seems as though ever since Darren ran 200 at the World Tournament a few years ago the floodgates have been opened on 200 ball runs. Mika and Jayson were over 200 last year. Dennis Orcullo was just shy of the mark running 197. Evgeny Stalev ran over 200 in the World tournament the previous year (with 70 odd balls being after the finish of the match). And now 225 by Lee Van Corteza.

Just something I've noticed. 5 runs of 200 and over in less than 3 years in competition. Almost 6 with Dennis's 197.

Willie's genius, it's been said, was pattern recognitition....
...Willie would've groaned the way most of these guys work their way through a rack....
....from what I've seen, Bobby Hunter may've recieved Willie's approval.

But he would have to concede that these guys are great players....
...'cause they could keep even the great Mosconi in his chair.

I was brought up on 14.1 and still love it today, but I'm willing to admit that the game itself is pretty easy after you figure out the break shot, but the focus and mental game needed to make big runs is really the tough part of it. Johnnyt

The draw

Lee van Corteza vs Mike Davis

Mika Immonen vs Dennis Orcullo

John Schimdt vs Thorsten Homann

Johnny Archer vs Konstantin Stepanov
