I was just watching a video match of straight pool, and i thought weather it be tournament or and action game. If you are on a high run and close out the game do you ask the opponent if you can keep going or would the tournament director allow you to keep going. because if it were a tourney how many more high runs could we have seen by numerous players. if a guy runs a lets say 150 and out, How many more could he or she have ran!!!

Mosconi 526 in an exhibition and Babe Cranfield 768 in practice in front of witnesses...but Cranfield was such a TOTAL gentleman that if he SAID he did...then he did.

In addition, there were multiple consecutive 150/200 runs in tournaments but of course, in different matches so that doesn't count.

So, in sanctioned tournaments, I guess we're forever stuck with several players being tied for first from a high run point of view.

But I have never heard any credible reports of anyone running more than Babe did that day...but I haven't heard everything there is to hear so who knows?

I don't think the opponent has anything to do with it. Once you finish the match he is out of the picture. The tourny dirctor has in the past allowed a player to continue the run if the game is over. I heard that at Parsippany NJ when Hohman ran 152 and out the room owner and director Bill Haley asked him if he wanted to continue playing, and Hohman said no. I did not see that run. I saw Hohman run 150 and out earlier in the day. Wei has that match on video. I believe it will eventually be for sale on Hohman site.
 
kinda funny hohmann didn't want to keep running after 152. Seems like most guys would want to keep going but he probably has hit 150+ dozens of times =) I have a vid of oliver ortmann running a gazillion (I think it's about 20 racks) and getting a prize. I don't speak german but it seems like it's some tournament or league thing and they probably let him keep running after he hit 150 or whatever was needed.
 
How about if you were playing somebody for cash, would you allow them to continue there run ?
