Stretch Index

I've seen a few questions from folks asking for a stretch index for certain cloths.
IMO this number is going to be different based on who is doing the stretching.
i.e. a guy 5'4" and 140lbs is going to get a different index compared to someone like RKC at 6'4" and 300lbs

What I gathered from Glen long ago about determining an "index" was stretch to the max then back off about a half inch -
then use that measurement to mark the cloth for a consistent stretch (index) down the length of the table.

Comments?

Stretch indexing the bed cloth all depends on the person doing the install, and the cloth being used. The method to determine the stretch index works the same no matter who's doing the stretching...it is determined by the person doing the install...and no one else. It's the max stretch one can stretch the bed cloth side to side, then back off 3/4" from that max stretch to give you the working stretch of that cloth. Yes, it's going to differ from one installer to the next, but the pattern of install will still remain the same.

I brought this up because I saw 2 posts asking for the stretch index for 760 and Ultra
and it seems folks think there is a specific number (stretch measurement) for each style of cloth.

I'm not a mechanic but I can verify Glens 3/4 inch. I stretched Championship tour edition on one end side to side and marked at the max, using that distance for the rest of the cloth. When I went to install it that last 3/4 inch was pure hell! And I wound up with some stretch shadows. Next time it will be perfect as can be.

Mistakes are a reminder as to how to do something the right way the next time:D

You have to put cloth even on anchor side :)
