Meant that my post went right over your head. But I think it might have went over Bob's head too. Not sure though. OR maybe it is just humor from my neck of the woods. Maybe nobody got. LOL
What can I say? Oh, yeah! Dohhhhhh!!!

I re-read and got it.

Gotta get back to my reading comprehension self-study class. "See Spot Run".

Like e.e. cummings, Sonia proves that she need not conform to the rigid structure of the appropriate capitalization. Such poetry! You go girl!

Once again, thank you for your brilliance.

Up To A Point

I have seen people who know very little about shape (and what it takes to get there), but could make any ball they could see, become pretty damn proficient. Up to a point.

The truth about aiming

I think this thread is kind of tongue in cheek, but in point of fact aiming is about the easiest part of playing good pool.

Consider aiming a gun - everyone who's ever tried to fire a gun can figure out how the sights work in a matter of seconds, yet to then use the weapon to consistently hit the target requires a great deal of very exacting technique.

The same is true of pool players - almost everyone aims the cue ball at the correct point on the object ball - what separates the good players from the weak players is that the good player is able to consistently deliver the cue ball to that spot. That ability stems from good fundamentals and an effective stroke.

So my advice for aspiring players is to forget about learning to aim - odds are you're already doing it properly. Focus instead on the fundamentals of stance, bridge, cue and tip position, and stroke.

My point was that a really good ball pocketer can win in the early part of their learning (depending on the oponent) because they "can make it from anywhere". BUT, they will hit a wall where they can't progress without learning new strokes and english and shape, etc.

I guess the point of my point, related to this thread, was making balls first, shape next.

I can't tell you if agree with me or not. If not, why? Thanks.

I feel a little ragged out...you want to go through your first flame war training program and take over for me on this one? You know the drill by now...just don't be a sissy about it. Do it right, otherwise I'm comin' down on YOU. :D

just kidding lol

Accepted etiquette on the forum is to apologize anytime the words "aiming system" appear in your thread title. Just kidding, of course, but many have done so, which always gives me a good laugh.

Drivermaker, I can't believe you have nothing to say on the subject. Are you getting weak?? :D

Naw......I think I'm gonna have to pass too. You know how busy I am with my 5-10 hours of weekly practice. I'm sure there will be a taker out there somewhere though. I think I'll just watch this one from the sidelines. :D

OK...just for you.

Can you believe what a moron of morons bgb really is to make statements like that. How idiotic to tell someone that everyone AUTOMATICALLY knows where the correct contact point or aim point is on the OB. And then he goes on to state, forget about aiming and focus on the stance, setup, stroke, and all the other shit. That's too many things to be thinking about when you're shooting! Who cares! Aim or alignment, whatever you want to call it is first and foremost. You're NEVER too old or TOO ADVANCED to forget aiming. As soon as you do...you're right back to being an inconsistent hack!
(Hope that satisfied everyone's bloodlust for now)

BTW Christy...what say YOU about the subject? Do you concur with my assessment? (or do you get gunned down with a .45 right here in the street...remember, NO answer or the wrong one means a blast) :D

I concur Drivermaker.(there's no way in hell I'm gonna get blasted on this subject!!)....lol
I only wish bgb's assessment of aiming was that easy. Obviously stance and stroke are necessary requirements of the game, but if you can't aim (or if it's guesswork) you'll never improve.
I've recently been in contact with someone here on AZ regarding a specific aiming system and it's awesome!! There are several more to learn, but based on the first, it will improve my ball-pocketing immensely......(like the guy says, it's almost like cheating!!)...lol

You're a very smart girl, Christy.

In the mean time, I hear someone bitchin' at me about taking out the garbage or something. Can you imagine a man of my expertise and status getting treated like every other Joe Schmuck out there? Sheeeesh...... ;)

What's your system?

What's the system? Can you give us a brief explanation? Thanks.
