I have a Schon I bought on the forum and I can't get the weight bolt out. I don't know if it is glued in or just a tight fit.

Any suggestions on how to get the bolt out?

Thanks!

I have 2 old Schons. Never had a problem removing the bolts. Sometimes it is easy to get confused on the way to turn the bolt. They have right hand threads. Make sure that you are turning the bolt counterclockwise.

On alot of the newer Schons the weight bolt doesnt come out like the old ones did. I had the same problem a few years ago and emailed Evan and he told me that he made them that way . I cant remember what he said exactly but i think kit has something to do with the way he assembles the butt and butt cap on the newer ones.

They started gluing the weight bolts into the cues a year or so ago. Did you get this Schon recently? If so, chances are it's glued in. If not, get a big ass screwdriver, and TWIST. It will come out.

I have held a sodering gun tip on the bolt head and loosened the glue to get them out.

throw it away its a schon who cares lol, all seriousness aside it will come but just have to but some nut behind it

I wouldn't worry about the forums about this and contact Evan at Schon. I only say that because during my last conversation with Evan was that changing the weight by too much was not recommended for his cues so he was starting to make them so that the bolts could not be changed out.

I didn't ask what made his cues so special but I am sure he has some reason.

Put whatever tool youre using into a vise and hold the butt with 2 hands over the tool and turn. Worked for me.

I used a large washer that fit perfectly into the bolt slot. But if you have a large screwdriver it should work too.

Good luck

I've had two Schon's I couldn't get the weight bolt out of...I got one out by having my buddy hold the butt and I used a really big screw driver and it came out. The other one I used the hot soldering iron on it and it broke the glue loose and I got it out...Just as other's have suggested here...

Warning

If you are going to use a soldering iron to loosen the glue make sure you wrap the end of the butt in a wet towel. You DO NOT want to overheat the finish.
I have removed the weight bolt in my Schon using a soldering iron and even with a cold wet towel the butt of the cue became warm.

Good Luck,
Andy

ps
I wanted to add a longer bolt and about an ounce to my cue however the butt was only drilled and tapped to take the length bolt that is in the cue.
