how do you deal with it? Im getting alot better....Im starting to run out more....but then i will miss easy shots.....its like i know im gonna get out.....and im playing "over my head"....how do you deal with your mind when your skill goes up...its like my mind doesnt believe that my runout ability is up...

I overcame it when I stopped trying to play what I thought was my game and instead just played. It's like when you stop to think about the fact that you're running out(and choke), instead of just running out.

Stop trying to play what you think is your game and instead just play as well as you're able to. When you go up a level, just pat yourself on your back - you're already doing things correctly(for you, at the time), so keep playing and don't try to force your game out.

Set up a straight pool break and try to run 40 or 50 balls. That should get your mind re-humbled. :D

One of the biggest issues you always have to fade is your own comfort zone... You have an established spot in the pecking order and you play at an expected speed...

Anytime you start to push against these things you have 2 forms of backlash... 1 from everyone in your circle... Friends and enemies alike... And another from that little voice inside of you that wants to avoid pain and unpleasantries....

The easiest way to fight thru it is to change play grounds and playmates for awhile... Go to tournaments and pool rooms that you are an unknown in and play at your newfound level... These strangers will likely be willing to accept you as a better player than your old circle and will help you normalize to actually being that better player.....

How many times have you seen someone go on the road or move somewhere else for awhile and then show up back home as a totally different player...

Sadly conforming is built into us by society and it is one of the reasons that climbing the ladder locally is sometimes hard to overcome......

You have to consciously tell yourself not to get too excited. I go through bursts where I will improve a half ball within a few weeks. It may be a month or longer, but it consumes your entire world. Pool is bad...so bad.
