Anyone hear of a 'suede tip'? I have a customer with a 4 yr old Joss, and he said it was a suede tip and would like the same. When I cut it off, it looks/feels just like an elkmaster, and whoever put it on used a brown dye/burnishing liquid on the sides. I did a search on here but came up empty. Thanks,
Dave

Suede

Suede wouldn't be as durable as the 'skin' side of tanned leather. It's basically the leather underneath the skin surface. Maybe the person is thinking it's 'suede' after the tip has been scuffed up a bit and they like the softer/scuffed surface?

I think your correct with that. He mentioned that it looked 'fluffy' after scruffing it. I'm just going to put an elkmaster on and see how he likes it.
Thanks,

I put on a Milk Dud the other day. I didn't press it as much as I usually do to see if I could make it a bit softer, yet keep the properties of a Dud.
It didn't work and it accordioned on me. It was nice and fluffy.

But they do look all nice and fluffy before you dye and burnish them, so I could see where he might think it was suede.

I gotta agree with Rex...once scuffed, a leather tip looks just like suede...at least it does to me.
