Suggest a Roadies/Gambling forum section

If you would like a separate section specifically for discussing road players, gambling, etc, please post here. Let's make this a long thread so the moderators take notice.

A prime reason for doing this is that we can possibly consolidate all the really great threads that have road stories in them, but might be under different names, i.e. my current "Toupee Jay" thread.

The search function for this forum does not work well, so it would be really nice to have a separate section so people can read about road players and gambling.

Why has this not been done yet?

Self-proclaimed roadies...

These are the guys that walk into a new room and claim to be on the road. Some kid started coming around my room a few months ago telling everybody he is some kind of roadie. Now I don't know about you guys, but I've never heard an actual road player tell anyone that he was a road player as this has a tendency to kill action. Of course I challenge him and it turns out we play about even. He must have found some killer action around here that I didn't know about though, because he still hasn't left and he won't play me again.
 
Hey Russ,

I think it is a good idea, and I visit other great pool websites that have interesting Roadie and Action reports.

But I'm afraid that this sight has gotten very politically correct in the past year, and I would wager that they don't want the negative connotations that gambling reports and stories would bring to the site.

I really don't have any problem with creating one. I only question whether it would be used.

I would guarantee I would use it. I would love to chat about who is doing what, who is on the road where, what he is spotting, how big the games are, etc.
 
I'm for it...but I kinda agree with Mike....it may not go here. Mike, I'll speak to you about this some more at the Palace at the end of the month, if you're there.
 
I'll contribute a gambling related story though no actual gambling took place...

Went to Denver with this guy I know (he'll stay anonymous as I don't want everybody showing up to steal from this guy). He plays well and is just about the best shot maker I know. Problem is, his intelligence is about on the same level as a box of nails. Anyway, I've got about a grand that I'm willing to bet with and me and this guy head over to the pool room. The room of which I speak is known for their very tough thursday night tournaments in case anyone was wondering...It's no surprise that some competent players frequent this particular spot. Well I tell my buddy that I'll back him up to a grand as long as I negotiate the games. Simple right?? All he has to do is play. Let me stress again the amazingly low brain power of the guy I'm dealing with. So we walk into the room and immediately he yells, "Everybody gets the 7." Now I know that I'm not even close to the greatest player around but if this guy were to give me the 7 and the 8 he has himself a pretty tough game. I have faith the my horse can play 9-ball with the best of them but giving up the 7 to anyone in the room?

Before I can get a word out, he's giving the world the 7 in a race to 9 for a grand. At this point I'm pretty pissed and pulled out. Not only is he ignoring what I said before, but he's trying to fire all the cash at one set. So I tell him I'm not backing him in that game and grab a table to knock some balls around. For some reason though, he keeps telling everyone I'm staking him. So I'm about to just leave him there to clean up his own mess when some of the "takers" of his offer walk up to me. They ask to see the cash and I refuse telling them that he's on his own. Of course this presents some problems and I'm soon being confronted by no less than 3 angry gamblers. Luckily Mr. Bartender came to my rescue as I was about to just make a run for the door.
