Super Billiards Expo considering closing over pandemic

Governor just shut down Montgomery County. Not up to Hopkins anymore.
Stolen from a news report:

Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Wolf is ordering the closure of Montgomery County schools and some public buildings to help stop the spread of the novel coronavirus.

There are 13 presumptive cases in Montgomery County, which is the highest number in the state.

Wolf has ordered the closure of the following in Montgomery County:

  • All schools, including pre-K, higher education and private schools
  • Community centers
  • Gyms
  • Entertainment venues, including theaters, sporting events and concerts
"By closing these facilities, we can control the spread of the disease. That's the hope. And we can redirect our public safety and health officials to where they're needed the most," Wolf said.

The closures will start Friday and continue for 14 days. Officials said they will continue to evaluate their options during that period.

Wolf also strongly recommended closing nonessential retail facilities.
The Expo center in Oaks, PA is in Montgomery County on the southwest edge.

The closures will be until at least March 28th (14 days from tomorrow). The SBE is scheduled to start on April 16th, 19 days after March 28th.

If you think the ban will be lifted on the 28th, I have a Bridge to sell you

I don't think Bob was saying that the bad would be lifted. I think he is just putting out info. If it does get lifted, it does. If it doesn't, then it doesn't.

A lot of ignorance and naivety on here.

I'm not telling people to panic but it's very simple. Don't go to large events and close large events down.

The ignorance on here is why we're in this position.

The World is a large event, how do you plan on avoiding that?

If at all possible, I'd like to get the nice orange one that I can see from my deck. (Some people call it "Golden" but I think that's just PR.) I'll bid $1000 right off the bat. I hear it comes with a fleet of boats. Are those included? :)

I'll get you the keys to the boats for $1000 cash on the barrelhead, meet in Oakland

SBE rescheduled to June
Players, Exhibitors, TAP members, Friends, and family of the Super Billiards Expo,

We appreciate your patience while we have been monitoring the situation and determining the best course of action.

Keeping the health and safety of our Super Billiards Family is of paramount concern in these uncertain times. While we could wait two weeks and assess the current climate like many others are doing, the nature of our event requires a large amount of preparation and travel from Exhibitors, players, and fans alike. Waiting two weeks will leave us a mere two weeks from show time, which would be too late for many to make the necessary arrangements - so, we have elected to be proactive and make the call now.

Although certainly a difficult decision to make, we feel it is in everyone's best interest. As our nation rallies together to prevent the spread of this virus, we're proud to do our part. Keeping people home and safely away from others who may unknowingly be infected is the safe shot. Our nation's medical community needs to be able to keep its resources available to help those who do not have that luxury.

None of us knows what the future may hold - but at least now we all know that the next Super Billiards Expo will be June 11-14, 2020!

We are confident that the Covid-19 situation will be under better control by then, ensuring the safety of our guests traveling in from around the world.

We look forward to having you join us on these new dates - entries will be carried over, unless we hear otherwise from you. If you are a player in our Players Championship Series of events and need to withdraw, for any reason, we'll gladly issue you a refund, as always.

If you are a vendor and cannot make these dates, please contact us and we will discuss options.

Competitors in the TAP League Rally in the Valley will be notified by their TAP Representatives and updated directly there as well; any questions you may have will be handled by TAP Event Staff and Corporate Office.

Stay tuned to our website and our facebook page for future updates.

We appreciate your patience and hope you all stay safe in the coming days.

Stay healthy - we'll see you in June!

I couldn't attend in April, but I can in June so I signed up. I'm on the wait list for both Am Open and Senior divisions, even though the total number of registrants in both is less than the stated number of available slots - not sure why that would be the case, but I'm thinking moving the dates will create some openings.
