Hi-
Im not sure where to post this, and I tried searching for an answer already. I need to see if I can get a roster change for the TAP 9-ball Dream Team Event in Edison NJ next week. I paid and entered a roster at the end of January of 8 players. Max handicap is 25, with my players being a 6,6,5,5,5,4,4, and a 2 (my girlfriend). I have 3, maybe 4 players who CANNOT make it now for various reason (a 5, 5, and the 2. Maybe one of my 6's also). So that leaves me with only 4 shooters (6,5,4,4), unless we can talk the other 6 into somehow making it out. I would be fine with 5, and we would just do our best, but the next problem is that we entered our roster based upon our week to week stats that we go by, only to find out that TAP RAISED one of our 4's to a 5. We just found this out by accidentally stumbling across it when we were able to look at the rosters for the event. The player that was raised has NEVER been a 5, and is still listed locally as a 4. Even if we get our other 6 to make it, we now cannot make our numbers.... We just wasted our $550. I do not think this was fair at all to us... Any info from anyone who might know what we can do or who to talk to would be appreciated...

Tomorrow, during regular business hours go to http://www.tapleague.com/ and there is a place there where you can ask a question live, and someone will be there to answer. Hopefully they will be online tomorrow.

I'm a 7 so I can't help. The owner of your area or league operator should be able to help you and if not, they definitely have the phone numbers to people that can. If it was my area, I could contact Kelly or Rich. Western PA, it would be Sam.

I'm sure Kelly can help you if needed.

You could try this 800 number tomorrow too----

If you just have four players, you can still play. Just match 'em up right to your advantage.

Just talked with my league operator and they told me it is past the cutoff point. With that being said, she said you should call corporate office and explain the circumstances. If they do allow you to add players, it would have to be someone that has been through the tournament module.(been in a tournament before) Hope this helps, and good luck.

thanks!

Thanks for your help guys! I will try and contact someone tomorrow and let you know how I fare..

Let me know. I emailed Them and was told no dice.. .all the material has been printed and shipped.. if you hear other wise let me know... we are in the same boat.

not good news...

That isn't good news... My main issue with all of this is that we have no way of knowing what our handicaps are when we fill out a roster and send in our money. The only thing we have to go by is our weekly stats, that's it. So we build the best team we can under those handicaps, and only AFTER they get our money and the deadline passes to change the roster do we find out that they just went ahead and raised a player up. That's not fair, period. I would have no problem with it if we knew BEFORE we filled out our rosters and sent in our MONEY! I would just build the team based on THOSE handicaps and not think twice about it. But we Dont, were totally in the blind.. . Whats worse is the player who was raised to a 5 is currently a 4.8 according to the poolnet stats, and has never been a 5. When told of this, they just said "too bad". WTF is that!!

Well, TAP just got my money for the LAST time.. I sponser 6 TAP teams out of my place, and have had to tell the local APA and BCA leagues "sorry, but we just do not have available room for your team(s) right now" for the last several years.

I've had other issues with TAP but have been the good soldier and kept my mouth shut about things, keeping any complaints "in-house", but I'm done with them. There are plenty of other leagues that I'm sure have their own issues and problems, but I'm now willing to try them out.. Bye TAP...

The cut off was like March 1st. You can have easily signed into poolnet or called the office before now to touch base with them.

I had a situation come up also and actually had to replace myself on my own team. It sucks but the rules are the rules.

Sorry to hear about your issue.

I did check pool net, that is what I based my team on, their stats. I didn't think I needed to call and do an individual audit/check on each one of my players. Figured if that was what it said we were, then that's what we were. Like I said, the player that was moved up to a 5 is STILL listed as a 4 on poolnet. His exact number is 4.8, and like I said has never been a 5. When told of this, they just said "too bad, is their decision". That's what I'm pissed about. I completely understand rules are rules, and I'm all for that. But there was NO way for us to know that they would just move a player up "cause they felt like it". If he's a 5, then LIST him as a 5, fine. But Dont list him as a 4 (and he's still listed as a 4 in pool net) and after we submit our roster AND MONEY decide to raise him after the deadline to do roster changes.. I call BULLSH@#!!

They started doing the audits and posted info via Facebook and on their message board about extended time to make changes.

We had a guy go up also from his league handicap.

Always good to go with a full team though, you never know when someone goes missing or is playing on another team or sleeps in!

Tough break man.

Roster changes

Rain Man...You need to understand that TAP just doesn't "raise" players. They go by the tourney module which goes back deeper into a player's stats and puts more weight on a player's more recent matches and higher level events such as Titleholder scores, etc. These handicaps can and do change due to players shooting better at these higher level events and more data in the system being used. There has to be a cut off date. After they turn the module on TAP gives everyone ample time to check their handicaps and make changes. I am sending 25 teams in both 8 and 9 ball and all my players knew when to check their teams handicaps and to make any changes. It is up to each team to check their handicaps out and to make any changes in the time frame. Once the deadline is past, TAP usually does not make changes since they need to get the programs printed, scheduling, etc....PS....Kelly, who handles roster changes, along with Bruce who does the tournament module posted all of this on Face Book and on the TAP site as well as letting all of the TAP licensees know. You might want to ask your local TAP licensee....PS....Pool-Net does not show you your exact handicap as you said a 4.8 so I don't know how you would know this. But since it is showing that according to you then the module made him a 5 because of higher level scores. Another borderline player.

The person was asking who the guy knew his player was 4.8 as regular players aren't privy to this info. Sounds like they have an informant! Lucky them I guess.
