The US Open stream went down last night (this morning) just as Roberto Gomez and Shane Van Boening were about to play.

Here's the setup. Gomez had just lost a hill/hill match to Immonen by missing a moderately long 10-ball after playing bad position from what should have been an easy transition from the 9-ball. Van Boening had just blitzed four opponents in a row on Friday with a combined score of 36-11 (against Hatch, Ko, Hohmann, and Morra)!!!!!!!!

I gave up waiting for the stream to return when the score (which was still available from the real-time scoring) was a game or two in Gomez' favor with the match half to two-thirds over. This morning I see that SVB won! Who can report what happened?

So SVB went 45-19 for the day, including a good come-back in the final match. SuperVan beats SuperMan!

i think SVB should have to play lee van corteza for the title of supervan LOL. svb is a beast, but im not sure is he's the best "van"...

SVB won 9-8 so tough back to back hill hill loses for superman. Not sure how the drama ended up on the hill game of their late match last night...looking for details also.

I was watching the live scoring and Shane started off the set down 5 to 1 and came back to win!!!

Some of the scores that I saw:
3 to 6
5 to 7
6 to 7
7 to 8
8 to 8
9 to 8

I gave up one game so I lost on my bets but at least Shane is still in it for me to get back my cheese!

You have to admire Gomez for how he handled some extreme pressure choking. He missed BIH on the 1 because he was so focused on tricky shape to the 2, and then had a couple of stumbles in the out that eventually led to hanging up the 10. In fact, I'm trying to remember... I was rushed at the time and couldn't give the stream full focus... did he have more than 1 BIH?

Well in any case, that was tough to fade, but he just shook his head and did a little smile and laugh. It reminded me of efren. Whereas immonen, in the same rack, let obvious signs of irritation leak out. Immonen can fade the nerves better having been so many majors, but maybe that also means he brings more heat on himself.

It's gotta be very tough to lose that match that way and then try to play your A game against an equally tough opponent who breaks like god.

That 10ball that Gomez chocked on reminds me of myself. For me at least, a nightmare shot for the game hill hill. Still don't know why he chose to go two cushions around the 10 and then way over, instead of one cushion striaght up the middle of the table. Even Mika questioned him after the game.
