Support for AZ Pro members

You know, I find it kind of sad that there are so many on AZ campaigning for Dennis Hatch when three of the players on the ballot are actively participating AZ members.

John Schmidt
Shawn Putnam
Charlie Bryant

Nothing against Dennis but shouldn't we as a community support those who spend time with us and share their knowledge?

I realize that these three probably have no shot now with all the people on AZ bucking for Dennis Hatch.

I hope that if Dennis gets the spot that he sticks around for a while and becomes a productive member of AZ.

I think one should vote for the player they feel gives the USA the best chance to win the Cup regardless of their participation of on-line forums.

Jamie <--- Did not vote for Dennis

No doubt. And in this position I feel that pretty much all of the players listed have a decent shot at beating any player on team Europe in any given race to five.

I just think that if we at AZ are going to go nuts campaigning then there should be some love shown for the players who show us love here on the board.

It's funny but people like Donny and Bartrum and some of their backers consider us all iggys but when they want something then it's off to AZ to beg the iggys for support. - "they" meaning pros in general who don't really participate on AZ.

Well if Dennis is who he says he is, i'm sure he'll know what's right in his heart.

I think Corporate America should support Pool, as pool player support corporate america with their dollars.

I voted for Schmidt because of all of them he posts here the most and I seem to know him better. Besides I also think he's the best of the group.

It will be interesting to see if Hatch does stay around and contributes here. I would like to hear some of his storys.

I believe you are right that is why I always try to buy local, even if the price is a little higher.

Well the higher price is often justified by convenience and quicker service. When it's not then I don't pay it just to be charitable.

I wasn't saying don't vote for quality.

But as SJM and and Terry Ardeno remind us all the time the records speak for themselves and our own John Schmidt has won the US Open and holds several other prestigious titles.

Charlie Bryant and Shawn Putnam have yet to make any significant mark on pool so of course they aren't as qualified on paper. Either of them however are just as qualified to win any race to five against ANY other player on planet Earth.

All I was saying is that it's a shame to snub those who support us fans with their interaction here in favor of a guy who just showed up for the votes.

Anyway, on reflection, whether Dennis gets in or not I hope he sees the value in sticking around. John Schmidt came here a few years ago and found a backer for the US Open and promptly won it. Many players see the power of going to the community of die hard fans for support and I hope that they can be a part of the community.

I'd be willnig to donate to a yearly fund that is CREATED and maintained by AZ members to send one of our own pro members to one or more events a year. The criteria would be first their own performance in the sport the previous year, and how much they have been a part of the community, and what they gave back to grow pool outside AZB.

Anyone else in favor of this idea?

When has Chris, or Donny for that matter, ever begged for anything from anyone here??? Answer= They haven't.... Schmitty, Putnam, Hatch and others, yes, they have. And yes, there are a lot of iggys' here. FWIW, you're not an iggy John.

You're totally right. Neither Donny or Chris has ever asked AZ for backing and they are both straight up about what they are about and what they will do. AND they hang out here a lot to.

My bad. Sorry.

I have been here a few years now..

I haven't seen any male pro post anything that wasn't woofing... bragging.. begging...or selling

I'll support members who offer something.. share knowledge...

self promotion... yea... not so much...

I voted... and I'm not going to tell you who I voted for..

everyone on the list is capable..

they frame it to be a fan favorite "IDOL" type voting.. and who cares

they can ALL play..

so in the end I think it isn't really much of an issue...

ok- i m from *the other side*
but i really like if guys like John or even other pros posting here *like beeing one of us/you*. That s not often that pro s still keepin *normal* contact to the community they *came* from. I really love that.

And even if i m from *the other side* ^^ i m lookin forward to this event- because the line up on both sides will be the best ever (in my opinion).

At least, very understanding words from JBCases. Anyway in the states would be many more pro s which would have enough quality to start for their country.

dumbs high for EVERYONE in the line-up- let the games begin :p

I'm glad that Shawn and Hillbilly post here. I voted for Rodney. I think he'll do the best job. I think that's how a vote should be given.... i.e. vote for the best qualified.

I voted for Rodney, because he's the best player not on the Mosconi Cup team and deserves to be there.

btw, not a bad finish at the Mizerak Tournament this weekend either!

This, it seems like all the pros that post here ever do is search their name in search box.. or woof/brag/ask for something etc.
