Another $50 will max out my matching contribution; although, I hope people don't stop there.

Keep the donations coming,
Dave

As an added incentive, anyone who makes a minimum $180 or $220 donation will receive a set of tournament used Super Aramith Balls (see thread here: http://forums.azbilliards.com/showthread.php?t=398767)

All contributors will receive a formal receipt in the mail which you can use for tax purposes.

Two questions:
1. If someone receives a set for balls from their donation, wouldn't that affect the tax value?

2. If someone donates more than once for a total equal to a minimum $180 or $220 donation will they still receive a set of tournament used Super Aramith Balls?

Just Paypaled $220. Great cause and can use another set of the Aramith balls.
Thanks Randy!

Strictly, since you are getting something in return for your "donation," the fare market value for the used balls should probably be subtracted from the donation amount. But the ball set could also be considered as a gift that you are getting for being a supporter of the BEF, in which case you might be able to claim the full amount of the donation. If you wanted to be sure, you should probably ask a tax accountant.

2. If someone donates more than once for a total equal to a minimum $180 or $220 donation will they still receive a set of tournament used Super Aramith Balls?
I think Samm would honor the offer for a donation in two parts (e.g., $100 + $80), assuming she still has some sets available.

Samm, can you let us know how many sets remain?

Regards,
Dave

Gosh, that went pretty fast. I'll put up a second $500 for matching for donations starting now and ending June 30th.

I am in for $100. This is great for pool and the future of the game. I want to thank Dr Dave and Mr Bob Jewett for always giving to the game.

Hey Dave,
I'm thinking about donating some QMD units (www.cue-md.com) as prizes for top finishers. Who can I contact to get some details about how to go about doing this?
Thanks,
Steve

The purpose for this thread is to rally support for the Billiard Education Foundation (BEF). This is a good time of year to do this since the BEF will be hosting the Junior Nationals Tournament in Vegas August 4-7. This event can't happen every year without financial support.

To help provide encouragement to people to contribute, I am offering to match all AZB contributions up to a total of $500 between now and the end of June.

The BEF is a great organization and a good "cause." They provide various programs for juniors in the billiards community. The BEF funds academic scholarships, hosts the Junior National Championships, and sponsors juniors to attend the WPA World Junior Championships. The BEF also encourages juniors to stay in school and further their education while building and maintaining a lifelong love of billiards through the “Pool In School” program. For more information, visit the BEF website.

To contribute and trigger a match from me, make your contribution on the BEF donation page and post your amount here (or send me a PM if you prefer to remain anonymous). Samm Diep will verify the donated amounts and I will keep an updated total in this thread.

FYI, the BEF is a non-profit organization and your gift will qualify as a charitable donation, which you can claim as a tax deduction.

Please contribute whatever you can, even if it is only a few bucks.

Thank you in advance for your generosity and for supporting the BEF. Young players are the future of pool and they need and deserve out support.

Best regards,
Dave

I was trying to get one of these to my local junior league, think you can free one up for us? We send 10-12 kids to Nationals each year from MA and this will be a great and fun tool for them to see their stroke path, especially the kids that have issues with a steady stroke.

We also have a fundraiser (like many places with local junior players do I'm sure) which could use stuff for the raffles/prizes. Maybe send those for the fundraisers rather than the top finishers since they are least likely to need the stroke trainer, it may be better to have available for the general junior players :)

BTW, our USAPL league tournament for Vegas trips had two junior winners out of 8 that won trips, my son at 15 won the 8 ball 75 and under handicap, and a 14 yr old girl won the 9 ball 75 and under tournament.

Dr Dave is on the board for BEF and I can contact with Sam Vidal (Diep before she got married) on Facebook. I don't know if it's her posting on here or someone else for the BEF.

Steve,

Feel free to contact Samm Diep, Executive Director of the BEF. You can reach her via the BEF Contact page.

She should also see your post in this thread since she is keeping tabs on the donations.

She might be able to use your QMD units as prizes or awards at Nationals.

Thanks,
Dave

I'm in for another $25 - I love spending Bob Jewett's money, too! I didn't know he was matching; you two are great for doing this.

Thanks for the ideas, we'll see what can be worked out with BEF about getting QMD units out to the junior leagues.

Actually, I think we have the only junior league in the country that I have heard about LOL, at least that's not just a local kids getting together to play. Plenty of rooms have junior players in them.
One of our kids in the league drives in to MA from New Jersey to play.
