suppose you had $5K to spend on pool...

Nothing.

Have my table, cue, balls, chalk, box of tips.

I likely spend about about $2 a year on billiard stuff if averaged out over the decades.

Maybe sponsor a video showing cats playing pool…the world needs more funny cat videos.

Like most,I'd put that towards what would do me the long term good,a Diamond since those are what most "modern" places and tournaments have. Of course,I'd take a 800 dollar one owner ONE set of staples GCIII like my buddy just got,but I don't get that lucky.

If the table purchase allowed it,I'd put the rest towards getting me back out of NW Tennessee and towards bigger tournaments, and ideally figure out where my real Fargo rating is compared to where I think I am. Tommy D.

I would schedule several match ups with slightly better players for $100 - $200 sets. Play a few sessions per week and see how long the money lasts. I'm not much of a gambler so I think this would greatly improve my game over the long run.

Bob Owen box cue
And the rest, I'd find a gold crown 1 or 2, put Simonis 860hr tournament blue.
Get me a set of those dynasphere gold balls so I could play 14.1 at home whenever I wanted

Another idea that would have been great 30-40 years ago is go spend $500 on a Gus $100 on a Fellini case. Then go gamble the $4400 playing 30% the worst of it games. 30% even games and stealing 30% of the time. The other 10% for Mountain Dew and practice time at the pool room.

Those were the days!!!!

Tell me a better idea!!!!

I would put new rubber and cloth plus a couple tweaks on my GC IV. Forget what it’s called but have the slate dragged with a slab of granite before the bed cloth is laid
