SVB and Cliff on TAR in a few minutes....

You are kidding right?? These guys are doing amazing things for pool, you can't possibly be knocking.
Selftaut,
I totally agree that the TAR babies are a great addition to the pool scene and I very much appreciate all they are attempting to do for us poor souls out here in the 'outback' of the pool world. The banter between the guys with the mic's was interesting but... One of the two pro's commentating when asked "what have you been up to lately?" answered "I'm just practicing my commentating". I think it is a wasted practice session if you forget rule #1 of being in the boot~~~~"your there to discribe the ACTION"...you can tell your little personal story's when the action/games have ended; there is plenty of down time for that type of conversation. These two guys missed a great opportunity to impress us with their inside pool knowledge but took a pass. It sure was interesting to hear about them 'gators' though while some great 8ball was being played. They could have added to the excitement of two great players get'n it on right in front of their eyes and conveyed that to us poor souls out here in never never land but......NO, they decided to not pay attention to the games being played....other than that I have no complaints....hehehehe

And generally with videos like that, you actually don't want to full screen the feed. It's easier to watch in its original size.

Without enlarging it, I couldn't see the balls well enough to know what they were, either. If someone will tell me where to buy a magnifying glass that will clarify the picture, I'll be happy to watch it in the original size. But, I absolutely CAN NOT make out what ball is what in a 4"x4" pic.

That's why it's free.

All I'm saying is if the free version can make the pay version look like it might be worth paying for, they'll make a lot more money. In other words, if the guy who runs to the fridge and the restroom can still get some idea what's going on in the game, the commentators are doing their jobs. A commentator should NEVER have to ask why it's someone's turn at the table, or how they got there.

How do you think radio football has stayed alive so long? Those guys know what they have to do to keep the crowd listening. And, they do it.

I totally believe there are folks out there who can multi-task a game, announcing the shots and strategy, as well as commenting on upcoming challenges, past records, AND responding to the chat. Not everyone can do that, though. Last night was sad. That's all I was saying.

Try sitting around the corner from your computer and keeping up with the game. Better take a good book with you, because you're gonna waste a lot of time waiting on game reports!

Now, THIS is informative commentary!! (If you're listening right now, you know what I'm talking about.) I actually have a clue what is going on and why from the other room!

Thanks, Bill!

I just wanted to tell everyone I've never commentated before... I was just trying to prevent dead-air for everyone since Chris Bartram was in the booth by himself. Honestly, I was trying to keep it clicking talking about action since... truthfully... I can't commentate 1P since I really don't know the moves. Chris is awesome to talk to in the booth - neither of us are prof commentators so we're just trying to keep it clicking. Even though I was in the booth with Billy Incardona for only 5 mins total... man, was that an honor. Even though I've never commentated before in my life... it's easy with that guy... he knows everything about 1P! I'll NEEEEVER forget today... got to chill in the booth w/ Bartram and Cardone sweating the Joyner and Boening action table. Holy F-ing Wow. They're the classiest guys I've ever met.

THANKS ACTION REPORT FOR THE MEMORIES OF A LIFETIME!! SWEEEEEEEET!

I was mostly trying to encourage you to do better. You have it in you. Yeah, if you don't know the game well, that makes it kinda hard. Thanks for responding to my request, though. Was trying to offer comparison to radio as an idea to help you in the future.

Oh yeah. Your voice is fine.

We're back to chit chat, now. Hopefully, the game reports will begin again, soon.

Back to the other room!!!

You do/did a fine job, but you neglected to tell anyone about the CHAT and the microphones before you left the booth. Nobody read or responded to questions for 3 hours and Billy was very hard to hear for a long period of time. There was Billy, Louis Ulrich and a girl (Belinda) that were all unaware of chat, questions, microphones or scores.
Doug
( very frustrating to all the people typing questions for them for hours..... imo )

I'm heading down to the booth - I'll get that fixed :)

You did a great job of preventing dead air space. I thought the "interview" with the chat questions was good, too. I did notice you are very good at interviewing someone. You put everyone's chat questions in and made them sound like they were someone the world should already know. That was great.

I think you have the capability to do what I was mentioning in my earlier post... the multi-tasking stuff. I think it would really help if you know the game you're supposed to be commenting on, but keep the focus on the game and fit the interview and other stuff around it, as filler.

You know, I mentioned the radio, but even the football games on tv are fairly easily followed, if you're in the other room. Now, that's great reporting on a game. I think if you aim your comments to the "guy in the other room," you'll really excell in what you're doing. (Please don't yell at him, though. :D )

You're in an era of multi-tasking that requires a lot more than just keeping the audience aware of game moves and such. I hope to hear you on there again, but on a game you really know and understand.

Does anyone not at the Derby know how much time and effort and money is used to set this up? We are very fortunate for Justin, Big Nasty and company are putting this together. You guys are amazing. And putting Shane into the package is great. He doesnt have to play on the tv table. Their is more comfortable areas without all the traffic and woofing and noise but you got him to play up front. No criticism at all can be made without this in mind.
I know you guys must be dog tired as I am in attendance and already am dead beat by watching all the action day and night. You guys are doing this not for money. We know this. Youre doing it for Action and thats what we want. I dont want to hear any more critiques about this and that. Imagine without it.

JesPiddlin personally i think you've slightly missed the point in what the whole idea behind this was about. not so much as to commentate on the matches per se, but to give the world a a peek at what the DCC is all about, somewhat informally. a mixture of commentary and just normal banter and chat with everyone who drops by the booth. to allow people to soak up some of the atmosphere.

last night i had trouble sleeping so from 2 o clock in the morning till about six i think when the feed finished i was lying in my bed with the sound low just relaxing listening to the the likes of john schmidt, shawn putnam etc chatting about a wide variety of subjects, and commentating on the match.

yeah often they strayed (i'm thinking of a conversation about alligators here lol) but that was part of the appeal. two of the best pool players in the world chilling watching a great game answering questions from the chat too.

yeah it wasn't perfect and although it's free, i think they could have done with a slight improvement on the feed, i think it's really captuered the excitement and the atmosphere so far, which is the main thing for me.

don't get me wrong i completely understand your point i'm just looking at it from a different angle.

btw was great to hear billy earlier, that man really knows his stuff. one of those people i could just listen to for hours.
