SVB & Dippy against Dechaine

who won... I fell asleep in my chair.

Setting up that match, using a Poker Player to launch an important shot, was lunacy at it's best.

SVB got to experience the handicap his opponents suffer, in most of his matches. SVB starts with a structured Rack, breaks 'em up & starts the run. If the run-out isn't successful, his opponent most likely gets to start his play from a SVB safety. That scenario will wear pretty thin, pretty quick.

Dippy got the game going unsuccessfully & when Dechaine had a shot, he was successful in the run-out or SVB came to the table looking at a Dechaine safety. That's a tough row to hoe.

SVB didn't get to control the table as he usually does. I was rootin' for SVB.... but fell asleep.

SVB's play

No excuses SVB didn't play up to par. He dogged 2 balls in the same corner pocket that would have made him a favorite to win. Dechaine certainly played better, but neither played thier best games.

Mike was the better player last night regardless of who was breaking , shane was clearly not on his game choked balls in the end like I have never seen before, the speed of the table was a big factor

Yeah, I saw that -- the shots he dogged, didn't even threaten the pocket opening. It was like something catastrophically broke down in his fundamentals, or he just threw his cue at the ball, expecting the ball to pocket "by osmosis," or something.

But hey, we all have nights like that -- some more than others. The upshot is, Shane's in a good position to set up some further action just like this, or perhaps with something a little more in his favor (although that's hard to picture -- taking the break away from Shane is now demonstrated to be a "no-brainer" to those wanting to gamble with him and win).

well the match was a close one... too bad for SVB.

SVB was sorta like Samson, when they cut his hair off. They took away SVB"s Break & he was closer to mortal man. There might have been many changes in that game, if SVB was allowed to play his whole game & not be hamstrung by some clown with a cue.

Shane was outgambled in this match, not outplayed. Obviously Dechaine doesnt have the total package to beat Shane but he plays very well.... I think shane can win this match if they play it again...

They also played by Corey's rules that if you call a ball and it doesn't go, in coming player has the choice whether or not to give the shot back. Same would hold true if you called a safe and a ball was inadvertantly made. This seemed like a surprise to Shane once the game was made.

Personally I hate this rule, call shot is fine, but this takes away many of the well thought out 2 way shots. :p As spectators, we would like to see some creativity. SUrprising this comes from Corey who is one of the most creative players in the world.

But the biggest thing was that Dippy broke for Shane and cannot break all that well. Besides, I think Shane breaking gets him in a nice rhythm to help him play his best.

One they played, Dippy was down 6-7 games and Gabe on the hill. Dippy won 4 games in about 15 minutes and then won 3-4 more and the set.

That was gabe also, right?

If you're talking about the race to 10 or 11 when they played in Vegas, you are right. Gabe was on the hill in the 1st set and Dippy won 5 or 6 in a row to win the set. Gabe also lost the 2nd set I think on the hill but I never heard the particulars. A little different spot though, it was still 18-4 but Dippy got 1 free foul.

Gabe a had a few chances to run the balls he needed during the set last night, but not many.

i went to dinner with shane tonight, he said that with Dip breaking it threw him off his rythem and thats why he didnt play as good as he expected to, I watched the whole thing and that how I saw it, so when he said it, I was glad I read the situation right.

Shane played Scooter tonight 10 or 12 ahead, I had $2,000 and could have bet $1200 more but didnt, looking back it would have been the easiest $$$ ever, Scooter got the 6out and the pop, shane won in a hour. He played perfect-I only watched a little of it, but he had to winning that fast. Scooter won the first 4 and then maybe won 2 games the rest of the set, from what I heard. SVB was in gear tonight, I could tell at dinner he was ready-I saw that and didnt bet on it, well enough$$$ anyways. The less you bet, the more you lose when you win-as the old saying goes.

Then we put Deschanine in the box with scooter a 4 way coproration, with a little less weight, they played a race and Scooter beat mike pretty easy, i dont know why but scooter played much stronger against mike, I think Shane is in his head.

Then Scooter after he beats Mike puts mike in action with ALL the $$ he won from mike, I left-I dont know about that game.

I win $1500, plus a $100 coin flip-not a bad day....my back hurts its 6am, long day at the office.

i tried to play, i'm so far out of stroke-i might never play again:frown:
