Shane called me moments ago and assured me that he is ready to play
his first match,I think Monday. It was reported earlier that he was taken to the hospital . It turned out he had an infected cut on his toe and was treated and he said it would not effect his playing. He sounded very confident,as usual, and I can't tell you great it was to hear from him.

Thats good to hear, i am looking forward to watching him play...
I read somewhere that he didnt play until tuesday... did I read it wrong?

not sure

I was told it would be Monday night and I haven't figured out the time. If anyone knows the time difference would you please post it .
Thanks Gary Bloomberg

The matches that day are going to start 3:30 pm Tuesday Manila time so that will be 2:30 am, Tuesday here in the USA, eastern standard time. If you are in the west coast, it will start at 11:30 pm, Monday night.

Just a guess, I'll bet Grand Pa is going to be up a little late.

I MUST sweat that match

I can't believe they aren't going to schedule the current US Open Champion for the tv table.

That's the saddest news ever. If there is any AZer that is there that has the method/inclination to update this board (a simple score at the end of each game would totally work for me) with Shane's first match it would VASTLY improve my life.

I sweated Shane's final match that way at the US Open and it was so dramatic I could barely stand it. There was an on-line betting site that had Shane at 40-1 for the WPC and I was WAY looking forward to seeing Shane's matches.

I just looked and the WPC Website has a live scoring feature so maybe I can survive that night. The way I think I'm reading the schedule it looks like Shane might be on the secondary TV table (whatever that means)?

Hey there Kevin. I just received an email this morning from someone that is there and it stated that the internet connections are very slow in the hotels and that the only real place to get a quality speed connection is in the media area of the event - it sounded as though that was outside of the playing field. So, my fingers are crossed that you can find someone to keep us updated quickly.

Shane's group will be playing on tables 2 and 8. Tables 1 and 2 are both TV tables.

I think he will be in alternate tv table 2. It will be covered live by Channel 23, a local Philippine channel. Sometimes ESPN shows table 2 too like when they showed the Corteza match even though the schedule was to show the Bustmante vs Jeoung match.

Table 1 and Table 2

His first match is on table 2, which is a TV table. If he wins, he plays on table 2 again vs winner of Pat Holtz and Wojciech Trajdos.

Yes, table 2 is another tv table BUT only matches from tv table 1 are shown on ESPN sports/Sopcast. Matches from Shane's Group 13, will be shown on local Channel 23 in the Philippines. Our only hope of getting live updates,, aside from the ive scoring update from the WPC website is if somebody from the Philippines watching channel 23 can update us. The matchroom website has some Filipinos who post updates so you may want to tune it to that website too.

So based on the schedule, the ESPN broadcast will be concentrated on GROUP 15 matches. For the first match, it is the Archer vs WU Yu Lin that will be shown live. Sometimes though, when there is a break in the main tv table matches, they show some of the table 2 matches, like they did show some part of Corteza's first match.

Here is the schedule of the TV TABLE 1 matches that will be shown on SOPCAST live starting at 2:30 am tomorrow morning, US est. I have highlighted the tv table matches in red.

Group 15 (tables 1 and 5 - winners of matches 5, 6, 9 and 10 move into Last 64)

U know this Kid here(I SAY KID BUT IM ONLY 22)really wants to win when he plays...Im sayin this because unlike the rest of the players i have seen who leave as soon as their matches are over(never to be seen until there next match)He plays, takes a break then will be spotted in the crowd studying his opponet..This guy takes the sport very seriously and will be in the winners cirlce frequently...My hats off too u My friend.....

P.S. may be why I said screw the line at the open and told em they could just bet high and just get my money outright......Needless to say I never had to pay off.....

thats a smart assesment my good man!....I think Shane is hungry, he is TOTALLY into the "world" experience, and he knows his game to a point where he is never questioning "if" he can win!.....I feel very fortunate to be in the same generation with players like....Efren, Allen Hopkins, Mike Sigel, Buddy Hall, Nick Varner, Scott Frost, Parica, Archer, etc.....and Shane...

I remember being his age and wanting to beat the world....only to brush the tables after closing.....and lock up hoping to learn something new the next day...

LOL, you haven't seen how fast Pinoys can type text messages. They will find a way.
