SVB playing in small tournament in Orlando?

That's what's wrong with the computer age we live in nowadays. Text messages and on-line forums are just words on a screen.

Often times the meaning can be misconstrued.
I wasn't looking down upon this or ***** about it, just wanted to share my story and receive some input from my fellow pool/billiards enthusiasts.

Sorry if it came across like it was meant for you, it was kind of a blanket statement. Personally I love it when new players come to our tournament and try to snap it off, we probably have the hardest $10 tournament in the country or close to it.

The $300 added every week brings a 40-50 player field every week and the top players don't necessarily win it when they participate. But I read my post and it did look like I was pointing it at you and I apologize because that wasn't my intention at all, sorry man.

No problem. No need to apologize. As you can see, i misinterpreted your post too!
Bankshot billiards in Crack-sonville? LOL!
If I'm ever up there I'll have to check it out.

Ewww! Just let one rip! I think you'd be impressed.

Yeah it's a great place, here is the website www.playatbankshots.com

Don't want to judge any farts on a Monday morning, I like my eyebrows just the way they are.
Oh yeah that's where that Lucasi tournament was played a few weeks ago.
I wanted to make the trip that Sunday for the finals, but unfortunately my girlfriend wouldn't let me.
I need a new girlfriend.

Yeah trying to get out to watch some great matches so close to home should be something a good girlfriend supports and does with you, not keeps you from doing. They try to cater to the players and host bigger tournaments when they can, Jeff the owner is always happy to see top players and is one of the few places to have paid house pros on staff.

I am the house pro there now but since I work a regular job I am not financially compensated but he takes care of me, I love representing his place and am happy to have the type of relationship with his business that I do.

House pro?
I thought I heard your name before.
I just googled your name and saw you in an interview with Samm Diep after the Lucasi tournament.

How unfortunate is that to suffer an injury of that magnitude from stretching!
That had to be scary. The thought of not being able to play pool again!
That truely is inspirational to come back 4 weeks after your injury and win a tournament. Amazing!
Good for you to find a positive out of it.

I hope you fully recover, wish you continued success, and look forward to perhaps having the privilege of playing you someday.

Oh man how I wish I had waited to do that interview, I was at the pool hall for 15 hours at that point and I was TOAST. But of course I gave in because she was very nice and convincing, so after losing my last match I took a few minutes to cool off and did the interview.

There is a lot that I wrote about the injury, it's about halfway done and already 5 pages long. The interview was a disaster and haven't even watched it, but you live and learn to move on after learning from it. Thank you for the kind words, I won the weekly tournament again last night and am moving a lot better these days it's just very painful.

Pro's

We've had several Pros and road players come through and play in our weekly $6 open 9ball tournament at Clicks Waco. Danny Harriman was probably the most recent. He won it. No handicap.

The most memorable was when Grady Mathews came through and did a challenge the pro. $10 dollars to play, $100 if you win! We beat up on poor old Grady pretty bad and Clicks ( his backer) lost their backside on the deal!! LOL. There were several young prodigies (sp) in the area at the time! Hehe.

Ray

ps. I was not one of them! ;)

No way should you can't feel bad about that interview.
I think you handled yourself very well.
You really should watch it, it's not bad at all.

Bankshot Billards should be happy to have a person like you representing their establishment.

Thank you very much Wazuela you are very kind, I just remember being very terse in my answer because nothing was coming to mind. I could speak/write for days about the injury or about pool and there I was speechless, so to me it was kind of a failure.

But it was my first interview like that so it's taken with a grain of salt and I hope to do better next time. I did an email interview with Phil Cappelle after the US Open in 2002 where I finished pretty high and was very coherent there, but in person and in front of the camera I dogged it, ha ha.

Just wanted to say Hi and let you know the next time I plan to visit your area, but do not, I'll look you up... again. Sorry about flaking out on you, but I really appreciated your offer. By the way your avatar is a crack up!

The $10 tournament down here at Bankshots is no pushover, we have had some stiff competition and welcome world beaters if they want to play. It's a chance to play great players for very little money, why do people look at it so negatively when the top players play?

It's a chance to play someone you normally don't get a chance to, I would jump at the chance not ***** about it.
Yeah! And mad props to the house for allowing anyone to play. I am a hack compared to SVB and I have been barred from a few weeklys for 'playing too good'. Whatta fukin joke!

Exactly, there are a couple of places in town that don't allow certain players in their tournaments saying they "scare away other players". But yet they allow me to play and I am considered a better player, who says personality doesn't count for anything these days? :D

But seriously, when I was a lowly D-player all I wanted to do was to play better people so that I could try and get better. The entry fee isn't much and it's not like you play these tournaments to get rich, you do it for the experience if anything so why would you want to bar anyone?

I'd love to have a chance to play a pro in any local tourney I'm in. You can either pay $100 for an exibition, $500 for a major tournament, or a 10 spot to play and watch them play. Seems like a no-brainer to me.

If SVB was in a local handicap tournament in South Florida, id be pissed if that went down and I didnt play. Id be handing some jelly to the tournament director too to see if I couldnt get "drawn" to play him too :-)

My personal dream is to be in a match with Efren, and have some photographer get a shot of me down on a ball with Efren behind me, looking in to see whats going to happen on the shot. If I ever get in a position, like at the DCC for this to happen, I am going straight to Diana Hoppe and seeing if she cant make this dream happen.
