SVB shouldn’t be allowed to turn hearing aids off?

Just listened to the Fedor -Rogan podcast.
Fedor said SVB shouldn’t be allowed to turn his hearing aids off. What do you all think?
I completely disagree, SVB should be allowed to play in his natural physical state. I found that statement rather insulting to SVB Niel’s is blind in one eye, maybe he should be forced to have a mechanical device that makes his other eye work, or someone who is missing a finger should be forced to have a prosthetic on whilst playing.

I think the statement was rude and I’m also not convinced « normal hearing players « would play better in complete silence, If I play with complete noise cancelling earbuds, I hate not being able to hear the noise feedback from the balls. Either way I think his statement was wrong, going to an even more extreme example, if a guy had a back deformity that keeps him in the perfect pool position would we force him to do something about it?

I like Fedor but can’t agree with his statement
Fedor is a stand up guy, I highly doubt he was being malicious. He was probably just being competitive and thinking Shane has an advantage, which kind of makes sense. If you aren’t distracted by a noisy crowd you should be able to concentrate better. Although I think Shane could run a rack with a mariachi band playing next to him.

this thread might just get the 'Dumpsterfire of the Year' award. people have been talking/arguing/whining about this hearing-aid shit for eons. give it a fkng rest. any player that complains is just a whining biach looking for an out because they can't win.
Reminds me of how many racecar drivers tried to pooh-pooh some of the accomplishments of Danica Patrick, saying that she had an unfair advantage because she weighed less than the rest of them. Get over it!

Seems like Fedor is a class guy. I haven't seen the clip so whether he was joking or not, I can't tell. I wouldn't criticize him without seeing the conversation.

Didn't sound to me that Gorst was kidding.
He sounded serious. Rogan even asked him if he was serious and Gorst said "yes and started talking about how Shane always goes to his phone to turn off his aids".
What more do people need for him to make it clear he doesn't like it?
Personally I don't see the harm in turning off the hearing aid.
It's almost like using those airbuds with the noice cancelling on.

Yeah you’re probably right about that but some people with ADD are able to intense hyperfocus (is that a word) when the game or something they like engages them.

My bigger point is that there’s nothing honorable about crying that someone else’s handicap turns out to be their advantage.

The real champions figure out a way to get into the zone more than most and being in the zone doesn’t guarantee a win either. Plenty of players look for shortcuts: headphones, earplugs, booze, drugs. But at the end of the day, the ones that get there are the ones who deal with the distractions and still find a way to perform.

If Shane’s deafness is a distraction for others it’s just an excuse. Like I said earlier if you looking for an excuse they are everywhere - they’re easier to find than finding the zone.
I honestly tried to stop coming up with excuses. If someone asks me why I missed or says something like I threw the ball I just say "I addressed that shot incorrectly." 9 times out of 10 it's true.

Now if I want to have a little fun with someone, I'll say it was the humidity. Sometimes you can see this gets their gears turning, they either try to understand it or have learned a new excuse! :ROFLMAO:

But even if dirty balls, table roll off or humidity did cause a miss or bad shape I still addressed the shot incorrectly. ;)

A perfectly timed strike that hits the back of the pocket sounds different than most of my shots.

But if you hit it it that pure, it's a technique to try to make the next shot sound as good.

If someone complains about his hearing aids he could just take them out. They going to make him put the back in? Unless that’s a new pool rule where you have to be able to hear, then the whole thing is ridiculous! I haven’t read the whole thread so maybe this was mentioned before.

First mistake is listening/watching Rogan who is the consummate assclown.

I happened to encounter a woman in a pharmacy. She had a seeing eye dog and a tag on her blouse that said “I’m blind and deaf”. She was shopping in the pharmacy. I will never forget her and her tenacity with those two strikes against her. It’s only now that I even admire her most since she won’t have to endure the next four years.
