This is like what I use. It's like a mechanical pencil with relatively fine lead. This comes with ten refills for $13. You can get fabric pencils at a JoAnn store or through Amazon. "Dritz" is another brand. Other fabric pencils are made like a normal wooden pencil. You can also use plain pencil or a sharpie. The chalk will wear off in about two weeks if you change your mind. Or the room doesn't want it to be permanent.

The only thing to be wary of when using tailor's chalk is adherence to the balls and skids.

Did you ever get pics of the “Fatboy Rails”???

I loaned them to Tar Studio and I don’t remember what happened to the rails, I think Bill Stock put them in the Wearhouse and I put regular rails back on the table before I sold it. Diamond for the record made it right with me-nothing was missing or bad biz. I just don’t remember what happened with those rails and I know I sold that table.

The pockets on those rails were 4 1/8" corners and 4 5/8" in the sides. Corner pockets were set to 140 miter, and side pockets were cut to 102 miter angles.

They were gaffed up so I could play dip, which never happened (sadly)

It would be nice if the stream (or archived videos) were viewable from something other than facebook, youtube would be ideal. Facebook Live, even if streamed public, requires a facebook login on most platforms. Particularly any runs over 100.

They look parallel to each other, so that would make them 135 degrees, or 45 degrees depending on how you want to read that. The measurement taken at the mouth of the pocket maybe 5" but when the throat is just as wide as the mouth is, that makes the pockets play closer to 5 1/2" NOT 5"!

Let's put it this way, a true STOCK GC3 would have rejected some balls being pocketed already during Shane's attempts to run balls, there was several time's balls grazed the side rails in the way into the corner pockets that would have been rejected had the pockets been stock.

Curious situation in a rack during one of Shane’s 100+ ball run. They’re using the Perma-Rack, which will have no rack interference. So Shane is able to use this break ball or any break ball below the rack within 3” or so to the rack. The normal rules of straight pool with a rack dictates that if the 15th ball interferes with the rack, then upon reracking, that ball goes to the head spot. But with the Perma-Rack, we don’t have such a challenge on a leave like this.

I say it’s curious because if we were using a rack, I have proposed on Facebook’s straight pool page that we can use a ball marker and forgo the “interfering with the rack.”. We’d only worry if the 15th ball actually interferes with balls. It’s a big and important rule mod suggestion, and it makes sense to me given the different racks we have today and given that we have things like Perma-Rack or ball markers.

What are your all thoughts?

When I was a kid, if the triangle interfered with the racking, they were racked by hand.
That made sense to me....why would they change it?

The rules require a triangle to be outlined even when you are using a non-triangle racking method. In/out is determined by the outline.

I think that rule stinks..triangles have different profiles.

I marked the outline the first five years when I ran it. Bill and Dennis have both assured me that they marked the outline every year they ran it. Bill used a sharpie while I used a light tailor's chalk.

As I understand your proposal, both of the balls in the diagram as break balls would be left where they are. Is that correct?

I feel break ball 2 is out of the rack.....break ball 1 is in the rack.
