SVB Undefeated in US open 9 Ball?

It is so much tougher to dominate these days that it is rare for a player to win more than 1 major in same year. :)

Here in America, the two majors are surely the Derby City 9-ball and the US Open 9-ball, and Shane swept them, just as he did in 2012.

Simply amazing!

Even though it might not add up to the us open and derby city he also swept the bar box 9 and 10 ball brackets

Wow hang on, not yet
While undefeated matches record is nice to have, Earl still has more US Opens (even though he may have lost matches during those wins) than Shane so Earl is still better player. Now if Shane wins 5th US Open, then I would agree that Shane is best US Open player ever.

I think Shane is the best US Open player. He won one, then 3 in a row. No-one else has won 3 in a row and only 4 total won 2 in a row. And he won his in a very tight time period, Earl won his all over the map. Which is impressive in a nother sense, but not totally dominating the US Open during his time. Just because so far Shane won 4 and Earl had 5 does not make Earl an automatic best US Open player.

What I would love to have seen is Shane play against Earl, Buddy, Efren, Nick, Archer etc.. in their prime 10-20 years ago.

Something I find interesting!

The last eight years of the U.S. Open 9 ball have been won by only
three people and Shane has won four of them!

Very interesting!

Yep, it took decades before anyone matched Varners repeat, then we had 3 in a row!

I think that means the overall field is not stronger but weaker since the same few people keep winning. There is less parity between the players it seems. You maybe see a dozen of them on top all the time. Appleton, VanBoening, Fejin has stepped up hugely recently, Immonen, a handfull of others.
