Personally i think these rules suck. The break is part of the game. Would be like saying Jon Rahm can't use his driver. Goofy pool.

It's an interesting change from the normal rules, the Accu-Stats arena matches had rules like this. I have to say they are about as equal in fairness as any other breaking rule and more so than many. What it does do is take away a set of skills in breaking and getting a shot after the break from a player. It's a bit like saying "well these players are really good bankers, so we will just make a rule for this event that no banking is allowed to take away their skill".

I would not put these types of matches into an idea of who the better overall player is though since it's more of a socialist way of doing things, you are good at something when the other is not, so you are not allowed to use your better skill for your benefit to make the activity more even.

I agree- it's a strange rule and I wonder why SVB would agree to such rules that put him at a disadvantage considering he has the best 10 ball break ever
Just a guess here but this trip was probably a freebie on Sharks and Cuetec. He's makin bank regardless of what happens.

Or maybe the challenge is to see who can adapt, Dennis can break too.

Yes, I really like safety play but this rule is totally unnecessary for 10-ball. Maybe it would be interesting for barbox 9-ball.
Possibly but i still don't like taking the break out. Its an acquired skill just like any other aspect of the game.

They(Sharks) have made it clear that they want to reduce the break's role. I like good defence as much as the nxt player but to artificially create more of it is beyond lame in my book. I pretty much quit paying attention to Shark matches since this new rule.
I feel the same way- I thought these matches were a great idea until they incorporated this rule.

While safety and tactical play is important, I don't want to see it forced on players at the beginning of every match.

There is a game for that- one pocket

I only watched a few games and saw some poorly hit balls still fall in. Dennis made a couple that I couldn’t believe went in. What size are those pockets?
