I had to leave watching the svb/alex one pocket match last night just as the hill game began and it looked like Alex had an open shot and might be on his way to winning the match. It wasn't more than five or ten minutes and when I re-connected the match was over and shane had won. Can anyone tell me briefly how it happened so fast.

I believe alex had a bridge cut. It was like a 60 degree cut, only about 1, maybe 1.5 feet from the pocket. Without a bridge he could absolutely never miss this ball. I mean never.
With a bridge I still expected him to make it (being short + a snooker player, he should be a bridge master)... but that extra foot must up the difficulty.
Anyway, after missing that, I believe shane was wide open to run 8 and out, made it look pretty too.
