I guessed you missed the part that I was agreeing with "most" of you. Please re read post #74 and let me know, where you got stumped.
I just read it as you saying, "If Shane is so good, then he should be able to adjust to the variance in a short race tournament." That's when I asked how any player can adjust for variance.
My bad if that's not what you meant.

I hate to break it to you, but 8 ball isn't the luck-filled game that 9 ball is.
Let me know when someone wins 4 world 9 ball titles.
Hell, I'm sure there's a few folks here that would give you decent odds that Thorsten won't repeat this year.
Repeating any Turney is a tough task so its a rediculas bet however that does mean the odds get better for the top players as each yr goes by so Im sure Shane will stumble in just on the law of averages sooner or later
And I think that was Thorstons 2 world 9 ball and 5th or 6th total world championship titles,,,

Ask Thorsten if he wants to play Shane a set of 8 or 9 ball for a large amount of cash
Does Thorsten even gamble ,, I thought he just wins world championships

A world championship is a title commonly used to describe a variety of sports events across a number of sports and disciplines. As a general rule of thumb a world championship will be open to elite competitors from across the world, representing their nations, and winning such an event will be considered the highest or near highest achievement in the sport or contest,
as I see it the us open is open to all players from all nations as is derby city .
you don't need to travel the world to be a world champion.
For that matter does ANY EURO gamble, since STEVE KNIGHT?
Answer is NO. The hearts pump kool aid.
Lets see how many asians, philipino, euro, players come play that position better. The point is shane is GREAT and is capable of beating any living person and any game IN THE WORLD regardless if its only on us soil. So that quilifies him to be considered the best player in the world in my eys.
Did you read what Appleton said? http://forums.azbilliards.com/showpo...20&postcount=1
I feel as if I have lost brain cells reading some of this stuff you have posted. Bottom line is this. The better player will win a longer race 8 out of 10 times minimum. Probably more like every time.
But to me consistency proves who is the best. And when you look at money list over the last 5 to 6 years SVB is always at the top. If you are consistently finishing higher then most other top tier players then simple logic says that you are consistently the better player. Therefore SVB is the best on the planet right now. And probably on his way to being the best ever.
Has nothing to do with Hart and more to do with brainsFor that matter does ANY EURO gamble, since STEVE KNIGHT?

Don't worry a have a few to spare since your depleted ,, I understand that in a long race the better player wins ,, but tourneys are not these long races for one and your playing several players not one ,, so any case study really is irrelevant about who wins a race to 100 ,,, this is not rocket science ,,,

What part of your not playing one player is hard to understand ,,So, basically you are saying that luck is a bigger factor In a tourney than skill. Otherwise, these world champions would love playing longer sets because you, " understand that in a long race the better player wins.." Then, by your logicrolleyes
, a race to 100 is a better test of skill. Thanks for making our point.

It's not a fight to the death ,, there are also factors in those races to ,, do you think age becomes a factor does that make a younger player like Shane better than Efran when Efran wares down like we have seen ,
Hatch beat Appleton in a race to 100 is he a better player I hardly think so , and Shane's not that much better than Dennis as their last match would indicate
so its not a fool profff method of proving who the best is
Again we are talking about turney play that requires a different mind set
It's a apples and oranges comparison

Oh, so you admit that Shane winning 2 out of the 4 events (both being rotation games) at DCC is a tougher feat. After all, it was like he won 2 tournies while playing in 4 tournies day in and day out for a week straight.
