With a 7-6 win over Niels Feijen in the Semis, SVB locks up the Master of the Table title at the DCC to add another prestigious title to his already very impressive resume.
The sky is truly the limit for this kid.

It is good to see the Lion back in the mix, as he finished in 2nd place in the Master of the Table.
Pool is a better sport with the Lion on the prowl!

What a great DCC!

Thanks to Tar, and AccuStats for bringing the action to us railbirds!

Great to see an American not only win with such a crowded international field, but it's also great to see an American with such great promise.

Congratulations "MR." VanBoening!

that jump shot by svb was effing sick.

full cue, three rail draw for the win.

You forgot to mention how Shane beat Neils. On case game, Neils plays a safe and hooks Shane on the 7 ball. Shane jumps, with a full cue, over the 7 to make the four ball while drawing around 3 rails for shape on the 5 ball. AMAZING!!!!

Along WITH the added pressure of it being hill-hill in the finals & the Master of the Table at stake also.

Amazing how he handled the heat. All those gambling match ups have steeled his nerves. That's IF he even has nerves in his body!

First off, congrats to Shane for his strong showing in two of the events.

However (and I'm going to take a ton of shit for this, but I'm used to that) Shane should NOT be the all-around winner. To be a true all-around champion, you should have to have strong showings in ALL THREE of the events. Shane lost in the 2nd round of the banks and didn't even buy back into the tournament. Shane's average finish for all three tournaments (assuming he takes 1st in the 9-ball, and giving him a 64th place for the banks because I'm being nice) is approximately 22nd. Alex (assuming his finish in the 9-ball is a 9th place finish), is approximately 4th. Alex played, by far, the best all-around pool this year and he should be the "Master of the Table".

Not the finals. I think SVB plays Dennis in the finals. But that shot to clinch the all-around will no doubt add to the Legend of The South Dakota Kid.

I have to agree & you are being very generous with shane's banks finish,it's closer to 300th place then 64th.

No crap for you buddy, but Shane did WIN 2 out of 3 divisions. He's the 1P champ and he's the 9B champ. There's a pretty strong argument that THAT may be considered "best all-around pool" played at the DCC. Pretty impressive resume' I'd say.

I'm glad that Alex is back to playing & I hope he stays with pool full time till he's able to draw social security. :) Heck with that poker....

I can absolutely see where you're coming from. I believe Alex played the best for the week. If the all-around was voted on like the Louie Roberts award, I think Alex would have won (I would have voted for him). However, it's hard to deny someone who wins two of the events (we'll see in a few minutes) the award. Even though he didn't fare well in banks, winning 2/3 has only been done once, and it was by the best player who ever lived.

The 9-Ball is over yet. Shane will play Orcollo in the finals.

Shane hasn't won the 9ball, yet. Still has to beat some guy named Orcollo.

It may sound weird, but if Shane gets two 1sts, I think he deserves the all-around, but if he gets a 1st and 2nd, I think Alex's 1st, 3rd and top 25 finish should get the nod.

Like, Supernova said, losing in the 2nd round and not buying back in should penalize him something...

you are wrong, SVB already won Matt. Banks is worth the least points. 9 ball is worth the most.

The biggest issue is that the points are weighted very top heavy, just like the prize amounts. First gets 120, second get 100, third 80, and it begins to drop drastically from there.

If Shane had not won the 1p and made it to the finals assuring himself TOP points for each, he wouldn't have had a chance to win the all-around.

Yikes!

I had been in and out all day and have not really peeked in at AZB. Still, that's no excuse to post before I got my facts straight! Now, rather than hurry up and erase my post to Suprnva, I'm gonna man up, not delete it like a little girl would and just say 3 things....

1. I thought that WAS the finals.
2. Ooops! And "Thanks" PoolBum for the heads up and correction.
3. "Let's go Shane!" (Then he WILL have won 2 divisions)

Don't listen to him. Ardeno is a dummy. He don't even know yet that that was only the SEMI'S......

LOL, Terry.

BTW, Shane better hope for a better result than the first time he had to play Dennis in the finals of a big tournament. I was there for the first one and it wasn't pretty. I'll give some rep to the first person that can tell me what tournament it was and what the final score was. :)
