Sweet Metal lathe

There was recently one that size for sale on craigslist locally. It had been outside for a few months, and had some surface rust, but they were only asking $1000 for it  Of course moving it could prove challenging.

Larger, non CNC equipment is a dime a dozen. Most all of the machine shops and manufacturers have gone CNC and no one wants the old mechanical stuff except for the smaller lathes and mills. Most machinists like doing side work at home for extra cash so they are competing for the same size equipment that cue makers want, making it much more expensive. The big stuff is a killer to move, needs to much room, uses to much energy and usually are to slow. I've got an old 16 by 48" lathe that weighs around 4,000lbs that I have set up for nothing but turning butts. I gave 200.00 for it as no one wanted to move it.
