I have a friend who purchased ( i know i know) an 8ft table from Watsons. He was trying to put it together himself and said it was too complicated and wante a quote on someone to do it for him.

The main part was in the instructions they have you Glue the cloth and he was unaware of this method. As he went on he called me and asked if i know anyone who would put it together as he didnt want the headache and for how much.

So thats my question,,,,,, how much--- he is in cincy.

I DO NOT know the brand it is and do not know how much they have done. I would guess it needs to be ALL completed.
I would like to know a price and when you can do it !! At that point i will give you his number and you can deal directly with him.

I appreciate the help!!!!!!!!!!

Please note: The below praise is limited to "my own" experiences, and it does not in any way imply there are not other great table techs!

hi cincy,

if you want your friend to have a PERFECT table, get glen (realkingcobra) to do it.

FYI: he developed the gluing of the cloth to a table. he is also a perfectionist.

never met a tech/mechanic like him before.

would never let another touch my table.

do your friend a favor and see if he will have time to do it.

all the best,
smokey

Glen can do the perfect table but installers everywhere (and manufacturers) use glue and have been for a long time.
Your praise is great but get your facts straight.

Rick, it's true that spray gluing has been used for many years, but my method of installing cloth has not been used by anyone that I am aware of any where in this country, unless of course I taught the person how to use it...LOL and spray gluing has never been able to install bed cloth tighter than stapling it on, but my method way surpasses the ability to staple cloth on when it comes to tightness of cloth;) :D

I know you use 3M10 brushed on - most use Super77 or 90 spray.
Smokey made it sound like you invented gluing.

Brushing is to slow and messy, I use a 3" roller:D And as far as how tight the glue will hold the cloth compared to stapling it, lets just say I could take money off any billiard mechanic that wanted to make a bet as to who could install the bed cloth tighter that I do:D

Yea, I've seen your pics - I forgot you use a roller.
Long day capped by 30 minutes on the phone explaining to a DIYer that cloth gets glued to
the edges of Valley 93 slate, not underneath it but that's how he plans to install it and ordered
an 8' rip to do a 7' table. He was definitly the winner of nut of the day.

Amen! Smokey, I know you had good intentions with your post. You did kind of make it sound like no other mechanic in the country is qualified to work on a table though. Although I won't discount ANY praise given to Glen, I take offense to you saying not to let another mechanic touch the table. Especially since I'm only a half hour from Cincy and very qualified to set up a Watson's table! (Although I hope there's no mechanics here that aren't!)

You guys have nothing to worry about...LOL I don't even like being a mechanic any more:D

Dart,

we "all" have long days - and your excuse is yours was capped with 30 mins of a DIYer?? too bad, so sad...

fine, whatever...

you have an excuse for your in-perpetuity; waste it on somebody else, not me.

have you ever seen Glen work a table??

i think not. and now i also know not!! so what are you judging against, your own work; your friends work - i have no doubt it doesn't compare,

so what do you know? tell me!!

your a salesman, spew all you want, but in my opinion, you are and will always be a salesman - nothing more.

there are those that do...
and those that can't; so they sell...
mouths so bold, egos so deep?

and you i hear do both, but you have no clue what Glen can do... GREAT. we have your enlightened fabric sales expertise to recon with. wow...

i have a few friends here and not just in this section of the forum (the only place you dwell). and i think (hope) they know that i do not say too much. but i can say with 100% complete confidence, that there is no better table tech than Glen, but i have to agree that there are a few that may be as good.

and yes, i hurt a few, like scruffy1 and Club Billiards whom i hope are still my friends, and i apologized for that and changed (edited) my original post due to friendships and out of real respect for them which i have, but you keep on coming on.

i agree i was being one-sided from my respect for Glen, and i edited my post. i agree i was unfair to some friends and i pm'ed and/or apologized. and by editing my post i did it publically.

you said:

my facts are straight: nobody does gluing as Glen does! and he is your friend and shares all with everybody, and you still are just a so-so salesman who has no idea what can be done with cloth. my sincere apology to you for your lack of enlightenment.

what do you ultimately want? why is this your great concern? you need more users of your table cloth?? Glen doesn't need you or your high prices??

sell your table cloth, most of them Glen would never think of even installing. you stand for so much.

and lastly, have a nice day,
smokey

p.s. you really should be prostate in your fine pic of the realkingcobra.

just my $0.02

peace

hey Dart

Ok, without taking sides, that was hilarious!

I figured it would be, lol - as was the photo I posted which was a joke but Gleno surely got a kick out of it as did others.
