What is the standard distance the pool table lights should be from

the surface of the pool table????

Too high.... you have shadows.
Too low ..... lights get in the way of shooting.

Also, Some type of foam protection on the edge of the lights on the break
side is a good idea. ( Some raise the cue when they break .... hitting the edge of the lights)

A piece of tape on the lights ( to keep the lights from falling out ) if the
lights get hit a good idea.

any response ????

Thanks for any input!!!!!

Typically the bottom of the light is anywhere from 30" to 36" above the table.
You want to adjust to where the light illuminates just the table, not the surrounding area.

A guy told me right that the bottom of the light should be right about at eye level. That way its not in your eyes. For my table it was about 40".

It is perfect, not too high or low. I have 4, 8' bulbs, that might be too high for a different light, with incandecent bulbs

I have a 9' table with 2 double 4' lights end to end at 40". Lights up the bed perfectly with no shadows. So, depends on the size of your table and if you have 3 or 4 shades on the light, etc..... But, 30-40" suffice.
