@Bob Jewett
Any idea what is going on? I can't paste tables anymore from google sheets. A portion of the table turns into garbage. It does not matter if there are hyperlinks or not. I tried multiple browsers on both the spreadheet and the AZB forum. Before this glitch, pasting tables has been rock solid using google sheets for the past 2 years. (Excel had issues before I switched to Google Sheets).

@iusedtoberich, If I make a table in Excel, sometimes I can paste it in, but sometimes it pastes weird. In the latter instance, I paste the table from Excel to Word and Paste Special as a Picture. Then, I just click on the picture in Word and paste it into the AZB post.

No idea. Well, it might have been a forum update. I think I've seen a recent change or two. I never had a problem pasting from Excel but I haven't tried for a year or two.

The table paste is still not working (across all of xenForo, not just AZB). I searched today on chatgpt and found a workaround. It involves placing a patch in the xenforo code. @azhousepro, is there any chance you can apply the patch safely? Thank you.

This seems to still be broken. Any chance for a fix @azhousepro , Mike?

The workaround I found in Jan was to paste the google sheets data into chatgpt, and ask it to convert for bbcode formatting. I've been using it in the 2026 ghost threads successfully.

You can take an Excel table and Paste Special into Word (as Windows Metafile). I save that as a JPG and then post here.

I might be missing something but..

Couple things I’ve learned. If you highlight the cells you want to paste and then copy them, as long as you keep the xls file open you can paste it as an image.

You can also screen grab and past as image. Nothing gets garbled this way.

Then you can size it bigger or smaller to scale easily

You can also print anything in Excel to PDF, open in Photoshop instead of Acrobat Pro, do whatever you want, size it as desired, and save in the desired file format. That’s what I do when the easier paths don’t work out.

Pasting as an image is not nearly as good as pasting as a table. As a table, it is legible, even for large data sets. It also resizes automatically for both desktop browser or mobile as the browser window is resized.

In experimentation over the years, I have tried several methods. A plain copy/paste from Excel works well if there is minimal or no formatting. Methods 2 and 3 below work better if the spreadsheet involves formatting. Using Photoshop (or some picture processing software) yields the best result if there is a lot of formatting involved.

Method #1
Copy/Paste table directly from Excel into Post

Since most things I produce have some or a lot of formatting, I have defaulted to Method #3.

Method 1 was not working for 2 years, after working for 10 with no issues. That was the whole point of this thread. I'll try it again see if it works for me.
