Table Usage Software

I have developed an application to track table time and purchases. It is very intuitive. It has drag and drop capabilities; so you can easily move players from one table to the next without having to sign them in and out. It also adds purchases to their account. Right now I've been branding it with the specific room layout and/or company logos. You can have as many people on one table as you want. You can have as many tables as you want. My plan is to incorporate X10 technology as soon as I get someone that needs it. I've also got some analysis tools built in. It will provide table usage in hours played, it will notify you when playing hours have exceeded a maximum number (possibly for recovering etc.) and many others.

My question is, is this something that is marketable or are there a million of these applications available to you guys?

There aren't a million out there but there is a selection. I like your drag and drop feature you mentioned. The others are around $300, if you sell for around $100-$150 and give great support for the program you might get tons of sales over time.

Thanks, I've even thought about taking on some beta sites to help develop additional functionality.

Thats a good idea, I know a room here looking at programs lately, she has 16 tables and still doing the pencil & paper thing. . I am sure she would be interested in testing yours if you would like. PM me if you want to give that a go. Will it come on CD? will it auto load to windows? Instruction file?

I've also been looking at room software. I'd love to check it out and offer my suggestions/praises.

I think it is very Marketable, But you will need to test it in some rooms. I currently use a version made in quick basic that was made for me by a good friend. It is limited, but it tracks table time by the number of players, it allows me ad or subtract sales while running, and it automatically switchs from my day time to evening rates.

I think the most important thing you can do is get it tested and proofed in a pool hall.

Have a good day, oh and by the way, send me a copy, I will test it for you.;)

I have it running in a pool hall right now. I haven't had to mess with it for quiet a while, it's been very stable for the last two years. I just haven't tried to market it.

selftaut and club billiards, I will PM you to see if we can't get something going.

I think you might need to look at your competititon first

The best program on the market I have ever seen or used which is in several poolrooms in Florida is Pool House Manager. It does 99% of everything you could want and has a graphical table layout designer that is simple to create the layout of the room tables. Moving players around is one thing, but try moving individual items like drinks, pool time, etc from one player to another so a leaving player can pick up another players drinks or pool time when he is checking out. This is a snap. As a developer myself, I see no reason to waste my time in this dead market. I have tried to get local rooms that have less than crappy software and some that have none to look at it. They don't want to even look because it means spending money if they like it which they would. One is doing the pencil/paper gig and gives away pool time to make the nut on the bar. I have played in there and they comp my time just to have me come back and not go to the competition. Good luck, but I think you are going to get really frustrated. Pool House Manager is downloadable, but you need to get the password from them to run the demo that will let you do everything but limits the payout to one table. If you want me to test your software, I will be happy to. I have developed and tested enterprise applications developed with Java, VB.Net, Oracle, and MS SQL. I'll give it a technical and usability test from my experience running 2 pool rooms, one with PHM and another with their own DOS based garbage.

That's why I intend to give away the basic version of this application. That's right absolutely FREE. I'd like to give back to the community I grew up in and help those that can't afford the basics.

It is. I've been extremely busy and haven't had the time to get it to you. I'll try to package it up and send you a copy before the end of this week.

Buzzsaw, I have been excited to see what your testers have thought of your program. If you need anymore testers let me know.

Thanks Matt
