Table without side pockets

Looks like Earl is going to get what he wants. I head Upstate Al mention that Earl and Efren..(Efrom to some)...were going to have a match at Steinways (sp) sometime in the near future on a table with just the corner pockets. Anyone heard more about this? Earl was spot on about ten foot tables. He started shooting with an extension on his cue for all shots, that has many top players and us little people following suit. He was right...again and again. Hope he's right about this as well. Can't wait to so what happens.

I WANT TO SEE THIS!

I've heard Earl say this time and time again and now I wanna see it!

If you hear any more about this please post.

You bet I will. And I spelled Efren wrong after jabbing those call him Efrem or Efrom...makes me an idiot too.

I love Earl to death, but this is the goofiest thing Ive ever heard from him.
Heres an idea as long as we're talking about goofy stuff.....

9'x18' table
12' cues that weigh 25lbs minimum
Only one pocket on the table thats guarded by a guy with a hockey mask.
If you make a ball on the break, it gets spotted on the table next to you, and you have to jump it in the only pocket on YOUR table, with your 25 lbs cue or the guy with the mask gets to tazer you.
The object of the game is to pocket 25 balls out of the 50 ball stack, and every other shot has to be behind the back with your off hand. Failure to do so in 3 minutes results in a tazer to the back.
Then its the opponents turn. If he can beat your time, you get tazed again, else he has to take one to the nuts.
I call the game Giant Table Tazer Tag Ball.

To make the game harder. This could be a step in the right direction :thumb up:

Perhaps instead of no middle bags - create template blocks that are in use during break shot only? Thus no wing balls potted... Remove the blocks when rack is in play. This would be no different to the wide irritating use of the magic rack!

Only with user testing can it be proved that no middle bags = a harder game!

Use of no middle bags with the holes still in place MUST be more difficult as any ball dropping into them should be deemed a foul. The middle bags will then become booby traps!

Without middle bags then there is a decrease of the scratch shot happening.

JUST BOUNCIN' IDEAS...

Great new thread for topical debate :thumb up:

I've always wanted to use the words BOOBY TRAP but never had the chance until now :thumb up:

Automatic pocket cushions that slide in and out. Alternate between 5 minutes of closed pocket safety play to try and arrange the balls in your favour. Then 5 minutes open pocket fest with 10 second shot clock and you have to call a ball and pocket on every shot. If you don't make your shot it's ball in hand. Loud rock music and cheerleaders during this action period.

Earl Was a Great player, his time is over!!! If we need Earl to save Pool then the game is Dead. The long cue, no side pockets, 10' tables are all side show stuff and wont bring any respect to the game, ship the side show stuff, we already have trick shot pool on tv.

If Earl could find a way to win something important again then what he says might matter.

I heard next season NASCAR they are going to be running on 14" 165 width tires, it's harder to corner at 100mph that way, seems like anyone can turn and they want to have only the top drivers to be able to turn.

Hey, let's create a table that has these little stanchions strategically placed around the table so not only do you have to play position on the next ball you have to avoid the stanchions. You could also use them to bank off of. Sorry for the sarcasm but I guess I am too set in my ways. Bad idea IMO but he is free to do as he wants.

How about this...

Since side pockets are for wimps lets put flippers in them like you see in the pin ball games.

Have them constantly flipping so you have to time the flip just right to make a ball go in.

If you hit the flipper it just flips the ball back onto the table.

I like it.

I like to watch Earl play but most, if not all of his "ideas" are solely for the benefit of Earl (or so he thinks!).:boring2:

His ideas are derived to be the great equalizers between him and the rest of the players. However, I think we all know that other than one 10ft table match with SVB on TAR, his success has been limited now that 10 ft. tables are more plentiful and actually seeing regularly play.

The cream has always risen to the top and it will as long as this ole world continues to turn. Earl will continue to come up with "equalizers" as long he can hold a cue no matter how much his skills (or mental status) deteriorates. Pros at the top of their game find a way to win over the long haul no matter what they are playing on or playing with!

Who knows, maybe eventually the 2 piece cue as we know it today will be obsolete and we will have 9 ft. cues in 3 piece.:rolleyes:
